you could always check the starter yourself with some jumper cables. just tap the hot conection and the starter should bump over. I would do this with the starter out of the car ofcorse.

302 will be the easiest. it has the largest aftermarket and I'm sure mounts and all the hardware can be found fairly easily.

I put a painless harness in my 65 and after it was about 70% in I ripped it out and uses all oem stuff. I hate painless. Its pointless to have all brand new wires and 40 year old conectors.

I just put a wiring harnes in my 65 and there is a pink wire that should plug into the dash and then to the ignition. my car would turn over but not start with this wire unpluged. Did you mess with the dash or ignition wiring at all? You could have a bad solinoid

the carb hasn't been off in a long time but maybe I will try a new one. It couldn't hurt.

I replaced the vaccum hoses and caps on the front of the carb and the modular trans line is new. I dont know where a vac leak could be comming from. The intake has been on for over 2 years so I know its not the intake gasket.
