Am I the only one who thought...

I agree with you there. From the start, Ford has given buyers any number of options to personalize their cars: different body styles, engines, appearance packages, and so forth. And they've always given the aftermarket plenty of room to work for those who weren't satisifed with the...

Am I the only one who thought...

Maybe not, but then again, at what point do you start to ask yourself: how much is enough? As it is, I can't get my car into 4th gear for long before I'm speeding, and I can't wind it out without running seriously afoul of state driving laws. And I live in VA, where civil driving penalties...

Am I the only one who thought...

I disagree that the stock S197 looks and sounds boring. When the '05 came out, I traded in my '02 because the '05 was just a better car all the way around: more power, better handling, and a better interior. I also liked the fact that Ford cleaned up the styling by giving it a retro look...

    Who had a 99-04 and upgraded to a 2005+ ?

I had an '02 GT. I went to a dealer on my birthday back in '05 to get a new set of floor mats for my '02, and there was the '05 GT in the showroom. It was the only GT they had in stock, and the only reason it was still there was that a guy had ordered it, but backed out when it arrived. Well...

    The ''new exciting'' Mustang...

Your two statements contradict themselves. On one hand, you concede that there is a demand for the cars, even if it is "to people with more dollars than sense." Yet on the other hand, you insist that Mustangs "only appeal to a certain niche." People either want the SE Mustangs that Ford is...

    The ''new exciting'' Mustang...

It isn't just the demand for the cars on a Mustang enthusiast site like this one, but a demand for the cars on the market in general. The fact that the SE cars sell well above MSRP indicates that customers want the car at MSRP, but Ford isn't meeting their demand. That's just bad management on...

    The ''new exciting'' Mustang...

I've spent quite a bit of time lurking on this forum, and have read the reviews here about the various special edition Mustangs (the Shelby GT500, Shelby GT, GT/CS, etc.), and wanted to share a few thoughts about the SE Mustangs and Ford's current problems. Setting aside the issue of ADM's...

    The ''new exciting'' Mustang...

I saw that it sold for $250,000. I can see the sticker at the dealers already: MSRP: $40,000 ADM: $210,000 PRICE: $250,000 Salesman: "Well, it got that much at Barrett-Jackson. We're just charging what the market will bear." Customer: "Hmmm...do you think I could get a set...

    Would YOU make the TRADE???

I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion on this one: I say keep the GT you have. I prefer the styling of the GT over the Saleen, and the price of the Saleen just seems too steep: according to the Saleen site, the 3V has an MSRP of 42K, and the supercharged versions start at over 50K.

2006 Shelby GT-H rented in Vegas *PICS*

I was in Oregon a few weeks ago, and saw one parked next to the Hertz counter at the airport in Portland. I was picking up my econobox for my week of vacation and talked to the guy in the Hertz office. He said it costs $300 a day to rent. I didn't ask about mileage; I was still trying to...

Agree with you guys. Get rid of the stripes and those hideous wheels (put the Bullitts back on, for starters), and drop the price at least 2 grand, and it might be worth considering.

Oil change instructions for women and men

"A Burbank Jiffy Lube was closed to customers Tuesday and Wednesday because the company was retraining all its employees." Retraining them? As in, "Hey guys, when you charge a customer for a service, then DO THE WORK!" For years, my parents took their cars to Jiffy Lube, over my...

Did you get your 30,000 mile checkup?

I'm wary of the dealer, too. I just had an oil change done by a Ford dealer this week. I took it there because it's just a few minutes from where I work. The good news was that, while I was waiting, I got to sit in an '05 Stang in the showroom without being hassled by the salesmen (it was...

How cheap can 04 GTs be had for?

2004 GT Quote I requested a quote for a 2005 GT from a dealer in Tyson's Corner, VA. The MSRP was $26,800, and he's asking $30,300! In the same e-mail, he quoted me a price on a 2004 GT: MSRP $24,915, he'll sell it for $20,118.
