I have disabled the PM's, hell I could barely remember the new password I set on the account. These are the boards I visit the most. Modular Depot Modular Fords Modular Revolution S197forum TCCoA Cheers!

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

Really? No matter how you cut it, what it all boils down to is the fact that the air all bottlenecks down to an intake port on the head. What I have said is in fact correct. It is funny how around 10 years ago, on Modular Tech Community which merged with Modular Depot years ago. A Ford...

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

From a performance stand point, generally what works well is to run as lean as the engine allows( just before detonation ) will make the most power. You run it richer to keep it from detonating. CAI without a tune, tricks the EEC and causes the engine to run leaner. Some to the point that a...

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

The engine is running lean, it is not imagined. The MAF Table is wrong without a tune.

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

In a nut shell. The MAF Sensor sends a voltage signal to the EEC. The EEC also monitors the 02 Sensors in the exhaust( same idea ) and is where the calculations take place for the A/F ratio. When changing the MAF tube size, this causes a different voltage to be sent to the EEC which causes a...

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

Are you really that dumb? CNL Performance did a lot of testing on products that they sell. They claim that the factory air filter and intake tube flows 550 CFM of air( 1 ). That is far more than the 225 CFM that the stock heads do and the 293 CFM that BBR ported 3V heads flow.( 2 ) That is...

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

Not necessarily true at all. What good is a CAI over the stock airbox when that is not the bottleneck/restriction? If the stock part provides more than enough air for the biggest restriction, then you won't see a gain in HP by putting on a part that flows more. That is a fact. Where is...

    Thanks Stangnet

There are times that this board had me pissed off at some of the stupid people that I was ready to do as you did. I did take a break from the board for awhile and I don't post as much Tech as I did. The only time I post Tech now is if I see something horribly wrong and a few others supporting it.

    How many here

My current 1996 Thunderbird LX Sport project car, I bought new in April/May 1996, I can't remember now. My 2005 Mustang GT was customed ordered 10 Nov 2004. I likely won't buy used again...

    What's the Best N/A Cam?

IMHO, I would go with a P&P NPI head over a P&P PI head for a built N/A car. FI, I would go with a P&P PI head over a P&P NPI head. NPI heads were not the problem, the cams and intake they had stock were. The main advantage of the PI head over the NPI head is the compression ratio bump. On a...

    2v 5.4

A 5.4 is *technically* a stroked 4.6. They share the exact same pistons. Stroking a 4.6 and staying N/A brings the exact same breathing problems that the 5.4 has with the exception of the extra weight on the nose. Just some food for thought. A comparison done a few years ago using...

    2v 5.4

Last I read on Bill was that he gave up on his 5.4 3V N/A project and has a running 4.6L 4V FI car. I haven't read any updates after that.

    2v 5.4

First off, the 5.4 2V and 4.6 2V have the EXACT SAME CAMSHAFTS. Second off, the 5.4 2V is not a performance engine. Even with the best parts and setup properly, it is out of breath by 5000 RPM. I am tired of explaining why the 5.4 2V is not a performance engine and never will be, do a...

Horespower Gain from just a tune??

    1) All 60' except the first one were in the 1.8x range 2) 4000 RPM on all passes 3) Stick 4) DA changes and wind direction was noted. Really a non-factor, DA correcting the results doesn't change them. Over the course of the entire night, there was about a 250' change in DA, less than 40'...

Your dyno sheet is SAE corrected. It kind of matters what Dyno-Jet they have. If it was in load bearing mode, it will read very close to what a Mustang Dyno will and the numbers will be lower...
