Anybody installed a Detroit Locker in their '05 up?

I have the Detroit Truetrac. It's not as aggressive as the Locker but can handle the power and has good street manners (it's quiet on turns).

Polishing the Air Intake for performance

I think you guys are taking two different things. The heads (aluminum) can be ported & polished but I think Radtexas is talking about the intake manifold (the black piece that sits on top the egine), which is made of plastic. Item on the right of this pic...

    Bent axle

It depends on the damage. If the axle is bent and the axle housing is OK it's not much to replace the OEM axle. I would not worry about the oil Ford uses, it will be fine but they will need to drain it and remove your rear-end to put the new axle in. If the housing is bent, then the entire rear...

    procharger questions?

Only use the canned tune just long enough so you can drive it to a shop that can do a custom tune on a dyno.

    Powerhouse Turbo Installed!!!!

I've talked to Mike about this last year when his CIA was being designed. He indicated that there was no real noticeable temp difference with or without the shield. In addition, the turbo comes with an intercooler.

To blow or not to blow, that's the real question isn't it?

Remember torque is torque. What I mean is that any power adder when pushed too far will vent your block. Whatever power adder you do get, get a quality, safe tune on a dyno. Mail order & canned tunes are OK but you can't beat a custom tune on a dyno. Any power adder will reduce your engine life...

To blow or not to blow, that's the real question isn't it?

Turbos don't have the parasitic loss that superchargers have, since they don't get their power from the engine. That, coupled with providing boost at lower RPMs, increases low-end torque.

    Boost v. Horsepower. Danger?

Torque is the issue in which hp is calculated from. Boost is simply a way to increase torque by forcing more air, and subsequently more fuel, into the engine. There is no magic number and allot comes down to getting a good custom tune. So it does not matter if you run only 4lbs of boots with...

    Procharger pully upgrade?

No and I don't plan to at this time. My next power add will come with a new bottom end but that's a different story and will require wife approval, which will take time. ;)

    Procharger pully upgrade?

Last I heard from ATI, was the 4.25" = 8-9psi & the 4.00" = 10-11psi. Mine came with the 4.25 and I've had it upgrade to 4.00 since then. I'm pushing 10.5psi now @ 6500 rpm. If you go with a smaller pulley don't forget the belt. Are you planning on re-tuning? What about MAF & fuel issues...

Anyone driven their GT in the snow yet?

This will be the 2nd season of snow driving the 05 for me. Good a/s or snow tires and a good understanding of what your car can & cannot do is key. Know the car's limit and yours and you'll will be fine. I just take it slow and watch out for others. Just try to wash off the salt and cinder a...

Does the 2005+ go in the snow?

As Fourth Horseman stated... a large part of it is driver and tires. The 05 handles well in the snow with the stock tires or good all-season set. Last winter I only had one challenge up a steep snowy hill and I just powered it up about walking speed with tcs off. It was actually a bit fun. :)

Same here. I drove it last winter and will drive it again this winter (Pittsburgh winter). I wash it down each week to keep the salt off.
