    Cams or Intake manifold?

My heads are getting swapped in September ready for fall racing. There are only a handful of cars that have made 11s with stock shortblock and heads, and I'm gunning for that club. We race again Memorial Day weekend. With the heads, I want to push towards 11.5s...

    Cams or Intake manifold?

26" ET Streets. I think I was at 15psi, with the QA1 shocks set at 5 (out of 12). Front tires going airborne, of course!

    Cams or Intake manifold?

I have the comp 127500 cams in stock heads, with the C&L manifold. This really took some tuning and track time, but I went 12.4 before the manifold, and and after many tweaks on the tune ran two 12.19s back to back. That's with a bad clutch!! I missed 2nd on both runs and still ran low 12s...

    comp cams anyone?

With C&L cold air intake, bbk shorty headers, xpipe and mac muffler, I went from stock 278 to 300hp. after adding the stage II cams and springs, I went to 322hp (but lost 9ftlbs of torque!). After putting in JBA longtubes and o/r hpipe plus steeda underdrive pullies, I'm now at 348hp and...

    12s anyone?

Add in cams to the bolt ons the folks have been mentioning and you'll start getting into the low 12s easy. I think there are 3 NA vehicles that have got into the 11s (Justin Burcham, Ron Leonard, and I can't remember the 3rd) but that came with a lot of weight reduction and some other assorted...

    Cleaning engine bay

While not the most pristine engine compartment, I've been doing mine by hand since I got it in 2005. The car never sees rain although I do beat it up at the track. I just make it a point to hand wipe everything I can reach every time I wash the exterior...

    Pinks all out

I just bailed out from the show. There's no hope of qualifying since I've decided not to install the nitrous system yet, and frankly, I don't even watch it. The whole arm drop thing, fake drama in the pits, etc is just too silly for me. I've joined the NMRA and will do my first race at...

    Pinks all out

Personally, I found the ET Streets a bit "squirrelly" on the highway, so I kept my speeds down to 60mph and tire pressure at 24lbs. Note that street driving wears away at drag tires so be prepared for that. In fact, that's one reason I've moved away from Streets to my favorite MT 295/45-17s...

    Pinks all out

Nitrous would help, but the full kit (bottle warmer, gauges, purge, window switch, etc) is going to set you back over a grand easy. You might drop .8-1.0 off your time depending on the size of the shot. Either way, I would HIGHLY recommend a custom tune off a dyno, not a mail order tune...

    Pinks all out

If you're an autocross guy, nix the drag shocks/struts and go for an adjustable set like the tokico d-specs. You may want to get Steeda's tubular radiator support/swaybar delete bracket. It's less weight and you can remove the swaybar while at the drag strip, then replace it when on the street...

    Pinks all out

Good luck. I made the initial cut for Englishtown in July, and don't expect to do more than low 12s. Just want that 5 seconds of fame while trying to qualify. I know I'll never make the final 16 either, but just for the fun of it. At least you got a shot of some cooler air! If you have...

John, I really like the look! I can't remember the last time any of my cars had white letter tires (trucks don't count). Gonna do that on my Goodyears... John

    hurst short throw problems

This is very true. At the track I shift pretty fast and hard, and on the street, it always feels notchy and stiff. Just the nature of the beast. John

MAC headers + prochambers on :)

Yeah, I'm curious about quality as well. For fox bodys, Mac doesn't have a such a good track record for quality, but I wish I could get my hands on a 2005 Mac longtube (or mid-length tube, depending on who you listen to) and give the once over. I have an off road prochamber on my '97 Mustang...

    Nitrous Switch Panel Pics :)

I ran into the garage to check inside the armrest and never noticed this panel. I had more or less decided to use the Speed of Sound panel: but hated the idea of losing my cup holders. You've inspired me to develop my own switches, which I'll put on the plastic console NEXT to the...

    Hood "flapping" in the wind...

I had that problem at the drag strip so I put on real hood pins. Problem solved. Interestingly, I met the s197 chief engineer (long Vietnamese name) and Carlisle Ford Nationals two years back, and I brought the hood flapping issue up while he inspected my car. He began to show me how to...

Failed NC State Inspection - OBD

I went through this in Maryland. We just have an ODBII scan. There are TWO reasons an aftermarket or custom tune can cause the OBDII scan failure. The most common is the o2 sensors are turned off in the tune. So have your tuner supply a new tune with them on. Another culprit can be the...
