    Tinting, Mustangs and Las Vegas

Update I ended up going with TintWorld on Hacienda and Decatur. I had them do the extra window guide felting (they are the ones who told me about it in the first place, so they had done it before). Its been a few months, and everything still seems ok -- I've done lots of window up/down...

Well...its official: "Ford Shelby GT for the Masses"

Expect heavy gouging on anything with "SHELBY" in the name. And the 8,000 - 10,000 limited edition status is just the nail in the coffin for seeing one at anywhere near MSRP. Shelby GT List price at $34,995, with a MINIMUM of $5k dealer gouge (more likely 7k-10k), so you can bet your last...

    GT500 Parts

If you could post a part/part# list, that would be great! (not the stripes, just the other parts)

'04, '05-'06 GT - deciding between the two.

A Mach1 is a different situation than a GT... the engine's the star in that car! Becomes a little more difficult choice.

    Diablo/Pred/etc and Automatics...

I hadn't seen the question either... It's really more of a day-to-day driveability thing... part-throttle behavior. But it sure would make the car feel a lot snappier if it was a little more eager to downshift without having to go WOT... Seems like it should be very possible to "tune"...

    Diablo/Pred/etc and Automatics...

Hello all, Does the Predator/Diablo/etc units do anything with the downshifting behavior of the automatic trans? Let me explain... I'm not talking about changing RPM upshift points or the 'firmness' of the shifts. What I am wondering is if the programmers can actually change *downshift*...

    AC Question

I'd have to disagree that it's 'normal'. The 'clunky' loud engagement of the compressor certainly *is* common for the new Mustang (ugh... what junior engineer signed off on THAT???), but if the car is physically jerking back like the e-brake was pulled, something is definitely wrong...

'04, '05-'06 GT - deciding between the two.

I've had a lot of Mustangs... I really really liked my 2001 GT, but given a choice between a 99-04 GT and a 2006 V6, I'd take the 2006 V6, no question. Drive both, and I think you might come to the same decision. There are a lot of mods coming out for the 2005/6 V6... so if the budget...

    Tinting, Mustangs and Las Vegas

I'm wanting to get my windows tinted on my 06 vert. I am wanting it for heat rejection (brutal sun here in LV), not looks. I still want to be able to drive the car at night, so I don't want something dark, and I dont like the looks of mirror-type tints. Suggestions? Anyone recommend a...

to anyone who has plans to rent a gt-h

Seems pretty logical to me... they don't want a repeat of the "rent a racer" problem they had the first time they did this. Even if that isn't what you had planned, you have to admit, the chances of someone flying in and renting the GTH *just* to go racing (or just to take it out and beat...

    sunroof/ moonroof on the '05?

Your car, and you should do what you like, but be aware, aftermarket sunroofs most often *decrease* your car's value, not increase it (as compared to a stock vehicle). "That's one big, expensive hole in the roof..."

    mustang and viper drifting

Its definitely not racing (despite names like "formula-d") ... more like a snowboard freestyle competition. The drivers perform different tire sliding combos, and are scored subjectively by judges on style, not speed. Not my taste, but hey, to each their own... it's popular in some circles.

    2003 Cobra's Valued higher than 2005 GT..

Let's not get too crazy here... everyone should know better than to put faith in 'high retail' (a.k.a, "Sellers Dream") prices as quoted by Yahoo, KBB, Edmunds, etc. LOL... As far as 03/04 Cobras having more value than an 05 GT -- well, considering that about 12-18 months ago, they stickered...

15'' Wheels on a new GT

Looking at the tight clearance between the stock 17" front wheels and the caliper on my GT, I think 16" would be very tight, and 15" would certainly not fit. The only possiblity I could think of that *might* make it work, is a narrow front wheel with NO backspacing... so the entire rim would...

    Spinner Security?

Has anyone tried to make the tri-bar spinners on their wheels more theft-resistant? When I ordered them, I was thinking they would bolt on somehow. I'm not very comfortable with their ease of removal... (if this has been covered already, please point me in the right direction... I did...

    New Flowmasters sound nice!

I love my Flowmaster American Thunder axle-backs. I've had them on for about 2,000 miles of commuting, and still think they are exactly the sound that a modern muscle car should have. I listened to sound clips before I bought them, but the true sound of them doesnt really come across. I was...

What would you like to see in a S197 BOSS Mustang?

Well, there's no way Ford is going to have the GT500 at 450hp, and a 'in-between' model at anywhere close to 400hp -- its just too close to the Halo Mustang. I think the most *likely* setup is the 3v 4.6L, tweaked to about 330hp, shaker hood, specific stripes and wheels, and about $3500 above...

    Tri-Bar and Pony

I agree... the 2005 GT badges are pretty ugly -- I think I saw the same style lettering on the 1980 Camaro... lol. Go to the dealer or fordpartsonline and get the fake gas cap from the base 2005 mustang (has the pony instead of "GT"). Its $24 plus shipping, easy to install and looks...

    Iup

I agree -- I didn't mean *instead* of the upgraded factory gauge panel. Personally I don't care about changing colors, but the Message Center is worth the upgrade alone.

Good point. I'm thinking the center dash gauge trio mount offered by a couple of aftermarket sources is the best option in the absence of real factory gauges. I'm currently trying to figure out how to mount them in the center stack so they don't look so 'aftermarket', but so far the molded...
