    Newly built 306 block: d-600procharger, trick flow heads, edelbrock performer upper/lower, shorty headers c&l 30mm, 30lb injectors, 70mm edelbrock throttle body, etc.etc. 10 degree timing having problems with engine bogging and running rich (tailpipes black) and fouling plugs. tps @.998, 40lbs...

    Many aod's have this problem especially the verts. My 89' vert could not spin them from a dead stop consitently. Many factors to consider such as tires and mileage to name a few. This all changed when I installed gears and there were no other issues with it mechanically. So the mods suggested...

    Underdrive pulleys worth it??

    Installed aluminum underdrives on mine, the motor appeared to rev much quicker. Have not had any cooling issues but my amps drop when at idle (red lights etc) and when running w/headlights on. The battery has never died on me or been slugish...but this also may be due to still having the factory...

    I am w/hamonkeiser on this one. But definitely gears first then shift kit. When you get tired of that get a 3000 stall w/trans cooler.

    I certainly hope that most folks know better than to buy a CAI for hp gains, or for "cold air" as the stock intake box serves the same purpose minus the air silencer. CAI=bling.

    If you have the cash then I say yes get a CAI for the bling. I went with the BBK (for the looks) and not that it looks any better than mac etc., I suppose I could have gotten a cheaper one and saved a few bucks though.

    3000 stall min. but with 30 miles or less a week you should jump up to 3500 stall or better IMO.

    Well I do not know about the registry but my 93' aod came w/3.27 and my 89' aod came w/2.73 rears. If the tag is still in the drivers door jam you can look up the codes unless the rear had been changed by the previous owner(s).

    I believe the tranny and gears are holding you back. Try 4.10's and a shift kit or valve body in the tranny dept. All of this will not add up in cost too much ( should be well below $1000.00 ) but you will have alot more fun driving the car.

    All depends on how thick your wallet is. Start with gears, then heads etc. Don't ignore suspension, build a foundation for the power. Get a roll cage if you plan on serious #'s.

    The chrome hdrs will change color soon after you run the motor. The extra $100.00 for ceramics is worth it (unless you do not care about the chrome changing color). The gaskets that came with my BBk's were torn when I opened the box they were shipped in. Too many members here have reported...
