    New U-joints too short

You never can tell who's drinkin/doin what these days in factories lol that or illegal, non-english speaking aliens, but I won't get started on that subject. 'Nuff said. :nonono: On a side note, how'd you go about removing the dampner dingleberry? I beat the poo out of it with my 4lb BFH...

    New U-joints too short

Interesting.. I put u-joints in my driveshaft about 5 years ago. I had no issues with the correct parts.. And I think my 88 was an auto from the factory. It had a non-original trans in it when I got it, and I have no idea about the DS, however, it was a 4cyl shaft most likely.. based on the big...

What lash to run on a 5.0 HO cam?

Thanks for the input.. I di dmore research and decided to get a solid roller cam and just do it the right way. It's a 244/250 @ 0.050; .570 lift; 112 LSA. Should turn out to be a fairly decent turbo cam.. moreso than the 5.0 HO, anyway. Thanks for the input.

What lash to run on a 5.0 HO cam?

also, "right before 0 lash" is definitely not specific enough.. give me a number in thousandths.

What lash to run on a 5.0 HO cam?

I was thinking in the .015 to .020 range for lash.. yes, I am fully aware of what lash is, and I also know I'll have to adjust them. This is a twin turbo build that is rather expiramental before I build a real engine with real parts. It is very unlikely that I will be putting loads of miles on...

What lash to run on a 5.0 HO cam?

I hate hydraulic lifters so much that I am tossing them and putting in some solid crower rollers in my 351w. I am running a stock 5.0 HO cam right now.. just wondering what would be a good place for starting lash on the intake and exhaust? This is a turbo engine, so the exhaust side will be...

Pushrod is very bent but nothing else? ?

My TT 351w just bent the #6 intake pushrod.. and I do mean bent.. As in the roller rocker was no longer pushing the valve on the roller tip; the valve was being opened by the aluminum beside the roller! I think I cought it pretty early on. My setup is this: 1.7 rockers, comp cams pushrods...

Did the mechanic screw me?Need my car help!

You don't have to wait until dark to see if it's arcing.. just get a spray bottle with water in it and gently spray it over the igition system while the engine is runnnig. If it has been or is arcing, you'll find it.

    Major Holly S#$%!

Just like thehueypilot said, be sure to smooth down the rough edes of the chipped area to prevent hot spots and preignition. If it doesn't go into the fire ring on the head gasket and the piston rings don't travel up that far, just smooth it out and let it ride.

    MPG-Meter

Easy.. just install a vacuum gauge and drive so that the vacuum is always high (like 18 inches).

    timming question

Sounds to me like you're definitely leaning out big time.. a hybrid & ported head, etc on stock injectors at 40psi? That's got to be really lean. You can check this by cranking your fuel pressure up about 10 lbs, and see if it helps any. You really need a wide band O2 so you know what's going...

    Just joined stangnet..

I went to the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC. It was awesome.. I learned a ton of stuff. As with most large schools, there is a fair amount fo BS and rules to deal with, but if you just deal with it and go in with an attitude to learn and soak up as much knowlege as you can, you...

    3'' MAF

Oh and I meant to add.. since you haven't said anything about a turbo, I'm assuming it's an N/A engine. You'll totally, absolutely be wasting your money on a 3" MAF sensor and the proper "calibrations" that go along with it. It would take a *LOT* of work before an N/A engine could ever need a...

    '86 Turbo engine....wanting NA

Yeah, you're certainly right on that one.. I was mainly looking at it from a power and torque perspective :D Or.. hmm, I think I'll pull the chipped 7.3 liter Power Stroke turbo diesel engine out of my 7400lb truck, and replace it with a stock carbureted 300 I6

    '86 Turbo engine....wanting NA

Going back to the horse and buggy, I see. Maybe I should sell my 351w TT and put a 1.8 Escort engine in my Stang!

    new '91 LX stalling

Depends on how it has failed.. this is still of course assuming it is the EGR. We haven't even verified that. I don't believe that the EEC-IV ECM in the Fox body Mustangs can monitor EGR FLOW.. they can, for the most part, monitor whether or not the sensor voltage drop is within specifications...

    new '91 LX stalling

But if the EGR valve itself is bad, cleaning or plugging the hose probably won't do too much. He really needs a vacuum pump so he can test whether or not the diaphragm holds vacuum or not. Could also be a bad gasket betweent the valve and manifold. What's the engine's vacuum at idle? Also...

Why the hell would you want to waste your time and money on a carb? EFI is where it's at, IMHO.

    cylinder head question

A turbo head will give you power only on a turbo engine (well, in most cases). With lower compression on the turbo 2.3, you can crank the boost into the 20ish+ range. Turbo with a N/A head, 10-12psi is about all you're going to get. To see the differences in the chamber design, check out...
