    Engine Warmer After Upgrade

simply put, more power output creates more heat output. A minor power increase can typically be controlled within the operating margin of a standard cooling system if in good operating condition. However, at some point the cooling system will need to be upgraded to handle the more powerful...

    Suspension 66fb Height

you don't know what "rolled the car" means, in the context of "rolling it a few feet"? something has to be wrong in the front, either the springs are installed improperly, a shock is jammed "full out"....could be several things. Good luck with it Steve, hope its something simple. Post...

    Too Much Compression!

I'd steer clear of the 86 5.0 heads, especially if they are the E6whatever casting. I think a good value for you would be a set of the late model GT40 heads, not the GT40P. They are very similar performance wise to early 351 heads but will have bigger combustion chambers to get your CR down...

    Suspension 66fb Height

Are all the parts stock spec? The front height sounds believable, but the rear should be fairly close to the same. Wonder if you were mistakenly supplied with lowering leafs somehow....might need to check part numbers. Have you rolled the car? Sometimes the front will sit artificially high...

    Long Tube Headers - '66 289 (347ci)

if you're gonna choke it with that puny carb, you might as well run stock manifolds. :)

Finally got pics of that 66 Stang 6 cylinder coupe with 5 lug suspension

looks like a light duty 6 cyl drag link in the engine bay shot.

    windsor or cleveland?

this thread has reminded me why I no longer seek tech advice here. I know this thread is in talk, but still...... It's fun to read the old wives tales though.

The engine builders "black art" (AKA Rod ratio)

some of it looks appealing on paper, but the fact is, it doesn't add up in real life, especially on a street engine. Rod ratio has negligible effect on wear, or torque, or fuel economy. OEM rod ratios are all over the place, and just about any OEM engine will last 150k, 200k, maybe more miles...

    Big Block 65 mustang

mustang II swap is very well documented, do a search. You can use a toploader or a C4 behind that 460, so the tunnel mods aren't necessary unless for some reason you decide to go C6. A C6 isn't necessary, especially in a little mustang. There will be lots of weight on the front end, and not...

Ok , were gonna try this again.

lol, they run intercoolers on N/A cars.

Piston selection for about 10:1 compr.

I know a place where you can get better heads, with better hardware, properly "set up" for a better price. :nice: AFR makes a good head, but not the best, even for the price.

What would cause engine break-up at 5200 RPM?

I had a similar problem once. I had the right springs for the cam, but put them in at the wrong installed height. Engine always started breaking up at about 52-5300 rpm. I added some shims under the valvesprings to get the correct installed height and it cleared right up.

Valve clatter could it be timing?

are you saying that proper torque (20 ft-lbs) was had after roughly 1/2 turn of "preload"? I'm thinking the geometry is off somehow....only way to correct that would be with different length pushrods or shims.

can you kID a hydr. roller cam by eyeballing one?

post a pic of it. If the lobes are machined and have sort of a natural brushed metal finish, it's a roller. If the lobes have a dull blackish finish, it's a flat tappet.

    Estimate my 347's HP

might get 320-330 hp from it IMO, all that duration is gonna move the powerband into the upper end of the rpm range where the heads will really be hurting you. I dunno.....seems an odd combination of heads and cam, especially on a stroker.

    versailles rearend problems with fitment

the spring perches on my versailles rear were not centered. Measure from the perch to a reference point, like the caliper bracket or something and compare. I ended up cutting off the perches, then welding on some new ones to center it up. This is not uncommon among these rearends.
