What size fuel injectors would you rec?

Get it tuned! I'm running 30 pounders on a 330 hp engine. They were "turned down" to about 50% of their capacity when I had this combo dyno tuned. 24s would have worked fine, too, but also would have to have been adjusted to perform at their best. The most important thing for you to do is...

    Valve cover clearance ???

I have the tubular intake, too. On my car the throttle bracket interfered with the finned aluminum Ford Racing valve cover on the passenger side. I solved it by using a 1" spacer between the upper and lower intakes. The finned valve covers clear the 1.6 FRPP roller rockers just fine.

    Door locks stop working...

Have you by chance been messing with any of the wiring at your starter solenoid on the driver's side inner fender?

Did I do the valve cover breather right?

If you install an open breather on an otherwise stock engine, it's just a huge vacuum leak. Nothing to be gained. Any of the stock systems that use a vacuum signal will be messed up.

    Radiator 87 - 93. Best Replacement!

Go with the Ford Racing Cobra aluminum radiator and keep your stock shroud, fan and coolant bottle. I installed one on my '87 last year. The only mods are to the brackets on top - the new rad is much thicker. You can waste your hard-earned money on a Griffin, an electric fan, and rig up some...

Are 30lb injectors overkill? or should I switch to 24

Have you had the car dyno tuned? In all likelihood your car is running way too rich. I have a similar combination as yours, and when I had my car tuned, it was running like 8:1 air:fuel. The 30lb injectors were reset to about 50% of their capacity and the car runs much better. Picked up 62 HP in...

    Quick smog delete question.

The plugs are available from Ford. They screw into the thermactor port on each head. They can be tough to get in if the port has a bunch of carbon built up in the holes. As I recall, they're kinda pricey ($10-$15 apiece?). You can just use a bolt to plug the hole, too. You can also block...

new replacement engine blows blue smoke

We installed a junk yard 5.0 HO engine out of a '91 Mustang with 30,000 miles on it into my son's '89 LX this weekend. While test driving it, after a good warm up, it blows blue smoke out both exhausts when accellerating hard. What could be causing this, and how do we test to narrow the problems...

    larger 4-lug front brakes?

dead Let's be honest - the stock 10.9" brakes SUCK. I already have "upgraded" to the SVO calipers, braided stainless lines, Performance Friction pads and cooling hoses. Barely adequate for open track use. Goes through rotors like crazy. Mustang 5L5, aaros I'll check out the Baer 12" kit...

    larger 4-lug front brakes?

Does anyone know of a company selling larger 4-lug front brakes? I'd like to upgrade to a larger diameter rotor without tossing the 4-lug wheels (16"). All of the upgraded brake kits I have seen require changing to a 5-lug setup.

    Power door lock power source

I know this is an old thread, but I just solved this exact problem on both an 87 and a 89. The problem was that the door locks and lumbar seats no longer worked after an engine change. After much head scratching, I realized the common thread between the two cars was that we had installed mini...

    blows blue smoke after startup

Thanks for the replys. No, it doesn't do it on startup. Not valve seals. It smokes like a bandit while driving and accelerating only. Oh, and the plugs look pretty good. No oil residue. Thay all look about the same, dry and tannish/gray. So I don't think it's rings. Again, can a bad...

    blows blue smoke after startup

Hey guys. Please help me with a problem on my son's 89 LX 5.0. He recently bought this car, and is in the process of fixing all the drag mods done by the previous owner. The problem is that the car starts and runs fine, but blows a ton of blue smoke upon acceleration. Doesn't do it at startup...
