    Try a 180* thermostat. If the guage is in the normal range, it may not be hot enough to open the 195* one. Also, correct rotation pump?

    Altitude? Air temp? What RPM are you shifting at? If it has a stock converter, you're not going to get the launch RPM much higher.

    But no paxton... :D Try pulling the secondary link off and running it. At least it will tell you if the problem is on the primary or secondary side. Sounds to me like the secondary side is going lean. What fuel pump and regulator?

    Might look into a tall boss 429 scoop. The distributor will be a problem because it's where a cowl hood slopes down.

    Yeah, I know of a certain promod that ran into the 6's with a stock block with the conversion. I have the engine systems main caps, They're BEEFY! Them compared to a the stock 460 front cap..

    Less options in what way? It all depends on your goals too. A 700HP BB is going to be cheaper than a 700HP SB. If you're looking for450HP, then the SB is the way to go.

    Make sure you look at the tech side of running 9's, ALOT more safety equipment needed than for a 10 sec car. Things like a parachute, window net, certified cage and a competition license are just a few of the things needed. Cost adds up quick unless you can do the welding etc yourself. As...

    Because for the same $$ it takes to build a 466 SBF, you'd have a 557" BB.. Weight isn't that big of a deal, 260LBS more.. less with aluminum heads. BTW, the stock 4290/460 block is good to around 800 HP :nice:
