1965 Mustang Fastback for future project & sand blasting discussion. Anyone welcome to input

That diagram looks to be very efficient. It should do the job well IMHO.

A 67 fast back conversion for Mrs. bbettto !

    That's nasty, to say the least . . . .

    Top loaders and OD

A Gear Vendors OD can be added to the toploader BUT the cost of parts and installation is pretty much on par with that of a replacement 5 speed.

    Hurst Competition Plus shifter question

Interesting. Glad that you found a workaround AND posted it for as future reference to all. Enjoy!

    Hurst Competition Plus shifter question

Some Hurst shifters had a separate reverse lock out lever that prevents it from accidently being shifted into reverse. That lever should be visible on top of the shifter box . I believe that some shifters may require you to push down on the shifter handle itself to be able for proper...

    68 convertible top frame

Here is a thread that contains a link to a very detailed PDF file that pretty much covers everything to do with a 68' convertible top: https://www.vintage-mustang.com/threads/convertible-top-install-bible.1198804/ (See post #17 for the download)

tallest intake 351W 9.5 deck in 66 with stock hood?

They ain't pretty, but they worked. Sourced from my plumbing junk box so the parts were free and functional. LOL

Very rough 65 coupe to fast back conversion

Man, you're a glutton for punishment on this one!

    Frustrated! No power.

Adding to this: Was the cam properly degreed after determining true TDC? Just zeroing the timing gears isn't an accurate installation.

1968 Mustang rear brakes locking up

It makes sense that the bias would be different with all those changes--it could negate the balance that you once had.

Original Manual Transmission, what fluids are you using?

Original equipment for your car is a true GL-4 specific gear lube near the 90 weight range. Its not commonly available anymore but can be found. Avoid anything that says includes GL-5 on the label. Napa normally stocks GL-4 if you have one local, as do some dealership parts departments. I...

1968 Mustang rear brakes locking up

Reread your first post and wondering if your proportional valve is adjustable? Might need to adjust it for less pressure to the rear brakes. If yours isn't adjustable then consider adding one if the current problem doesn't reveal itself. That's commonly done when people swap from drum to disc...

1968 Mustang rear brakes locking up

I don't think that it was mentioned but a kit comes with 2 shoes that have longer pads than the other 2. The short padded shoes should be facing the front of the car and, of course, that means the longer padded shoe should face the rear of the car. Might want to post a photo of each side and...

    A 65 fastback for me

You could always improve your cooling by using a 68' or so radiator support. Being a big Windsor guy I did it over a decade ago on my 65 to get the 24" width. Same height and the same width between the top of the aprons. Would need to wack off some of the support on the driver's side and do...

    I Thought I Knew How......

Have you tried advancing the timing or messing with its "curve?" Do you time it with the vacuum advance blocked off?

A fast back conversion for randym67

You might consider taking a swim off the coast of CA to go get it. Unless you are really buffed you might consider taking several "water wings" in order to bring it back to shore . . . . :) :) :)

    289 Timing issue

Going to start out with some basic stuff since I didn't see it covered above . . . . Are you sure all wires were placed on the correct plug locations as before? If they are mixed up the motor either won't run or won't fire all the cylinders it the proper time. Also note that the plug wires...
