    thanks guys for all the replies. I was kind of leaning toward a issue with the idle circuit myself, since it pulls very strong above 3000- 3500 RPM. Ramrod- You are being serious, right? Cover the carb with a rag (lintfree, I guess) and turn the motor over... I'll give it a try

    How to empty water before removing heads

    I don't have a shop vac, so I jacked up the rear as high as I could. This helped somewhat to get rid of most of the water, but once I removed the heads there was still some water in them, which dripped mostly inside the cylinders.     I gotta remove the heads again. What is the best way to remove the water, so it won't spill into the cylinders and liftervalley? By just draining the water at the radiatordrain, there is still water trapped inside the heads. Do you guys use pressurized air to blow out all the water? thanks

    If originality does not matter, You might want to invest in one of those high torque mini starters. They are pretty cheap on Ebay and they really work. I also like the mechanical sound they make.

    thanks Paul, the manifold is a Edelbrock Performer. How many holes would I need to drill, all 8 or just the front 2 and how deep ? What kind of drill bit works best for the block?
