Progress Thread 2001 Bullitt #265 - Build Thread (LOTS OF PICS)

Sound System Updates Well, I got an little unexpected bonus at work for completion of a project. I decided to splurge and throw a few upgrades in the sound department. From the factory, it has the non-Mach 460 AM/FM/CD/Cassette head unit. The door speakers had been replaced at some point...

Honestly, I do not know for sure if it would be compatible. I'm guessing not, since most places that sell cats for the Stang show a difference between the 96-98 4V and the 99-04 2V/4V engines. Are you in California or a state that requires California emissions? If you are in CA, you'll need...

Wheels & Tires The wheels on the GT were AFS 18x9" Mach 1 replica wheels. They are no longer being produced. They are in need of refinishing, which I will do as a side project later. The tires on the GT are OLD!!! Like 2008 date code old. I wasn't comfortable driving the car on such old...

Bullitt Side Scoop Delete Another part that I put on the GT when I owned it was a set of Bullitt side scoop delete panels. When I bought back the Bullitt, the one on the right was missing. I popped these off of the GT, and replaced them with GT side scoops in Mineral Gray (from the same GT...

Its been a few months, time to update on some work done to both the GT and the Bullitt. Convertible Top Replaced After bringing the GT convertible home, first thing was to replace the convertible top so that I could actually be parked outside. With all the rain that we have had in San Diego...

    Convertible Top Replacement SN95/NewEdge

I have been slowly bringing my Bullitt back to life (thread here). I recently reacquired another Mustang I owned previously, my first Mustang a 2001 GT convertible 5-speed. Some of the mods that I did on that car will be making their way onto the Bullitt and then I will be selling the car...

official 4.6 liter Mustang photo thread

This photo was taken around April 2005. I just bought the 2001 Mustang GT convertible after my husband bought his 2001 Bullitt Mustang. This photo was taken last week, almost 18 years later, when both cars were reunited after purchasing the convertible back from my friend that I sold her...

The Shaker GT Returns Home I am going to be starting the bodywork soon, and there are some pieces that I need for the Bullitt. It's missing one of the Bullitt side scoop delete panels, and I want to do a smoothed 03/04 Cobra rear bumper and a 03/04 Cobra front bumper. I knew of a source for...

It's been a while since I've updated. Since the suspension work has been done, I've just been enjoying driving her around without worrying that a ball joint might fail, etc. Now that fall has descended and summer travel is over, I'm starting to get back into a few projects. This weekend I...

    Erratic Run on a 2001...

I had a similar issue with my Bullitt Mustang. When my brother had it, it would start and idle fine but after a bit of driving would start to stumble under acceleration above about 2500 rpm. A lot was done to the car including replacing the fuel pump, plugs, and "gutting the cats"... still...

    95 Mustang Cobra

Sounds like the EVAP lines on the fuel filler are clogged. I had a similar issue with my S197 Mustang several years ago. Another way I found to bypass it is once the filler is in the neck, rotate the filler to the 2 o'clock position (almost upside down) and fuel that way.

confirming steps for rear spring install

The pinon snubber is directly above the rear end, mounted to the underside of the body. There are three 8mm bolts that hold the bracket on. Once removed from the car, you can separate the pinon snubber from the bracket and replace it with a new one.

Thanks. A good thorough cleaning of the engine bay is definitely needed. But that right now is taking a back seat to getting all the mechanical issues sorted out.

Advice on lining up front control arm

This weekend I got my front control arms removed. On the driver's side, you'll need to remove the pinch bolt that connects the steering rack to the steering column. Once I did that and separated, the rack was able to come forward enough to get off of the bushing and bushing sleeve. I was able...

Advice on lining up front control arm

I am at the same point myself in my front end rebuild. I stopped last weekend at this point. I believe that you need to release the steering rack from the steering shaft, and that will then give you enough room to move the rack past the steering rack bolt sleeve and to be able to move it up out...
