Finally fixed the front end clunk!!!

Yah...I'm relieved it's fixed, but I am still amazed that I paid $180 for 3 hours of time for the geniuses at my local Ford store who COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM!!! Even the service manager was mystified! Those guys need to read Stangnet! Stangnet rules! CW

Finally fixed the front end clunk!!!

Sorry, no pics. The K member is indeed in the front of the car, but not as far forward as the anti sway bar, which is in front of the K member. The K member connector I tightened is to the rear of the K member, and runs under the oil pan, just in front of the bell housing. CW

Finally fixed the front end clunk!!!

Certainly was not tie rod end links... It is a small rod, 5/8" or so in diameter, approx 18"-24" long, which serves no apparent purpose other than to perhaps stiffen the K member. When I say "aft" side of the K member, I mean that it is found on the back of the K member, toward the rear. It...

Finally fixed the front end clunk!!!

:nice: I have been plagued for two years by a clunk in the front end of my '95 Cobra whenever the suspension loads or unloads. I suspected tie rod/control arm/ball joint problems, since the car has over 100,000 miles on it. Took it to two different shops (one was local Ford dealer). and neither...

    Dealer overfills on oil change

I'd rather not name the dealer here...it was the lube guy's fault - not the dealer. I'm gonna take the extra gallon of oil back to the dealer, though. Tell him I got more oil last time than I paid for, and want to give it back. See what he says. CW

    Dealer overfills on oil change

Got my oil/filter changed recently at the local Ford dealer. As soon as I picked up my car, I noticed a strange vibration at 2,000 rpms. So, before taking it back to the dealer and screaming at him, I thought I would check her over myself first. Cut to the chase: The oil level was waaaay too...

Can't find cause of front end creak/pop

I have a 1995 Cobra coupe, 105,000 miles, all stock suspension; it has a very annoying creak/pop in front end that I cannot locate. Happens when suspension loads or unloads, such as when I take off from red light, or when I touch the brakes. Also randomly happens when I hit a bump at SLOW speed...

RIP: Local '06 Mustang GT burns to the ground

A 2006 Mustang GT caught fire and burned to ground here last week. It is suspected that the cause of fire was related to an "overcharging" alternator that was replaced earlier in the day by local dealer. Luckily, car was parked in a lot, and not in the owner's garage, else he would have likely...

How difficult to swap in a new shortblock?

I have a tired 5.0 in my '95 Cobra (110,000 miles), but it has relatively new AFR 185 heads. I'm thinking of buying a new crate shortblock, built with forged internals, and using my existing AFR heads, long tubes, pullies, A/C, power steering, etc. How difficult will the swap be? I have...

Mat be getting a 331 longblock...will stck parts fit?

Looking to order Pro Bullet longblock with AFR 185s. Guess I'll also need an oil pan (for main support system), 30# injectors, 255 in-tank pump, and a new MAF...some valve covers, too. Then there's the dyno tune...dang, cost mount up quickly, don't they! Next I'll need a tranny or diff...

Mat be getting a 331 longblock...will stck parts fit?

May be getting a 331 longblock...will stck parts fit? If I wind up replacing my 140,000mile stock engine, I am thinking of a DSS 331 longblock. Which stock parts change over without problems? What else will I need to replace? * intake manifold? * Valve covers? * computer ? * injectors...

Short block, long block, or crate engine?

It has an FMS "E303" cam, or so I am told. Pistons may not have been notched, thus I suspect bent valves or such, as accounting for running like crap. When I say runs like crap, what I mean is that it won't leave the garage with me behind the wheel...it's that bad. Idle surges from stall to...

Short block, long block, or crate engine?

I inheirited a '95 Cobra. Has well over 100,000 miles on stock block, and only 2,000 miles on AFR 185 heads. BBK long tubes, FMS E cam. Stock intake. Runs like crap...don't know why. I am thinking of just starting fresh by buying a forged shortblock, and using the AFR heads, long tubes, and...

03 Cobra Vert exhaust help needed

It took me 4 systems to find satisfaction: 1. Stock - too tame 2. FR500 - same as stock, IMHO 3. QMP complete 3" system - too loud, and too many leaks 4. Borla stinger (with stock H pipe) - PERFECTION But that's just me. Later, CW
