96 Gt Needs All New Brake Hardlines, Question

i know the MC is different on the cobra, so I would need to keep the same fittings/lines for the Gt that go from the MC to the proportioning valve. i'm thinking that the lines that go back from the PV to the rear brakes should be the same in a 96-98 cobra as those in my 96 GT. i have abs btw...

96 Gt Needs All New Brake Hardlines, Question

years of new england weather have rusted out the brake lines that run from the MC/proportioning valve to the rear where the soft lines connect. LMS only sells the brake line kit for the 96-98 Cobra, and i am wondering if there is that much of a difference between the GT hardlines and the cobra...

    '00 GT Head gasket ?s

id run a compression test first, if you dont have the tool you might be able to rent it from autozone. a shop can do that for you too if its easier, thatll help determine if its the headgasket. the intake manifold is easy enough to get off and check the coolant line that runs between the heads.

    Loose Caliper

there is a metal clip that snaps into the caliper, sounds like yours might have popped out. its usually a shiny metal piece that snaps right into the caliper. i had forgot to put it in once when installing a new caliper, bolts were tight but the caliper was very loose afterwards.

clutch fork clips! where to find?

im considering using a setup like that, as i really need to be able to adjust the cable. what im using to connect it right now is similar, only its a non adjustable cable. im too embarrased to put a picture up, it looks retarded but it is strong enough, just afraid the cold temps will break it.

clutch fork clips! where to find?

after doing the t5 swap a few months back, I was forced to make my own clip/bracket to attach the clutch cable to the clutch fork lever. i have the bracket that connects the dog bone to the fork, but not the lever to the clutch cable bracket. i dont have the equipment to "make" a better one, and...

    MM CC Plate Spacer Question

you could mark the lower plate for the alignment and then just make sure its lined up right when you put it back on. when i swapped my spacers around i jacked the front up, undid the top nut, sway bar end link, and tie rod end then lowered the strut down. taking the plate off seems like itd be...

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

I like the kit overall, not much of a drop but I didnt really want a whole lot (live in new england). I went with poly isolators all around and I have new quadshocks too. Big difference taking sharp turns, car just feels a lot tighter in all around driving. Bumps dont seem too bad for me, maybe...

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

haha^^ nice. i dunno what happened with this caliper, the bolts are tight but the thing is loose on the bracket. either autozone forgot some hardware or i was too drunk to switch something over from the old one. i think im gonna switch the spacers around on the strut though, the way i had it...

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

oh, sorry yeah the clearance is fine there. i think found the issue though, its embarrassing but the caliper is a bit loose on the bracket from when i changed that over. thats what i get for doing multiple projects at once. i just gotta tighten it down as soon as i find the right socket, it was...

    oxygen sensors

the motorcraft are narrowband, the bosche aren't. people have had problems in the past with the bosche, myself included. its your call, i think the denso ones are pretty much identical to motorcrafts.

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

i replaced the balljoints when i did the suspension, and before i switched the spacers around there was at least half an inch between the strut shaft and the hood. i torqued the top nut on to around 30ft/lbs at first, then gave it another turn after. it doesnt seem like its the bumpstops making...

    oxygen sensors

yes you need the front ones, get the motorcraft replacement not the bosche ones. the motorcraft ones work best out of all the others, they dont cost a ton either.

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

Well I moved the spacers around to the way they should be, still got this annoying metal on metal sound when hitting bumps though. Not sure if its the strut bumpstops doing it, but its really annoying.

Yeah thanks for the help man really cleared things up for me, Ill try and get it switched around this weekend. hope switching the spacers around doesnt mess the new alignment up, but anything to get rid of the god aweful sound going over bumps.

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

i got my instructions off american muscle's website. from some other threads i searched most people seem to have the spacers the opposite of the way i have em, so i think Ill give that a shot. from your picture, yours is setup the way i shouldve done it according to the instructions. i did it...

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

im running the billstein bts kit, the drop was about an inch with poly isolators. so if i understand correctly, you mean take out some of the lower spacers and either put them up top or just leave them out alltogether to bring the shaft up? i have no problem hacking up the hood some more, had to...

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

sorry, yeah i meant bumpstops. i set the spacers so it was 2 thick+ 1 thin below the bearing plate, and then one thin ontop. thats how the instructions had it at least, i believe thats where the noise im getting is comming from. how do you have your spacers set Cdawg?

bushings with bilstein bts struts+ mm cc plates?

Hi guys, I recently installed the billstein bts kit, struts and springs plus mm cc plates. I had read that I shouldnt use the supplied poly bumpstops** that came with the billstein BTS kit, and that it was designed to work without them. I hear lots of noise from the strut towers though, but it...
