    rim fitment question 17x9.5 275/40/17

I am using Global West Delalum bushings front and rear. I am very happy with the setup. The solid bushings prevent body roll so I don't need a sway bar and the Flex-a-form springs ride smooth but still control the rear nicely. No wheel hop.

    rim fitment question 17x9.5 275/40/17

I used Wilwood rear discs. No spacer and nothing clamps onto the axle housing. A real clean set up.

    rim fitment question 17x9.5 275/40/17

The wheel widths and tires you specify will work but the proper backspacing is critical. Most of us on this site are used to working with backspace, not offset. If I did the math correctly, your front wheels will have a 4.25 backspace and the rear about 5.00. That isn't going to work front...

    3-pt seat belts for 67

1967 Shelbys came with a rollbar that bolts to the roof. I added a Shelby rollbar to my '67 and yes there were captured nuts already there. Maybe its Fastbacks only thing. Isn't having your belts going through the package shelf going to make it unihabitable for rear passengers? Bad...

'70 Fuel tank in my '66

It's 2 1/2" from the top of the tank flange. A '69 tank is lower but the filler opening is more to the rear which makes hooking up the tank much more difficult.

Interior mounting locations for MSD box

Is it the color? The red MSD box looked out of place in my engine compartment so I painted it black.

    options for engine bay paint/coatings

Any imperfections in the sheet metal will stand out with a gloss paint. Flat will hide a lot and texture will hide even more. Many resto shops paint the underside, trunk, and engine compartment with truck bed liner because it hides sloppy work. Unique did their six figure Eleanors that way...

    454s on a 66

There are a lot of wheels that look very similar to the 454s. Get wheels that have the right BS and width for your application. The section width on a 205/40/17 tire is wider than the tread width, about 8.3" but a 17x8 wheel is 9" wide. That's about 3/8" of exposed metal that will quickly...

3 vs 2 point seat belts

bnickel, Where your three accidents exactly the same circumstances? Do you think auto manufacturers have learned nothing from crash test dummies in frontal, offest, side impact, and rollover crash studies. Sure flukes happen but are you going to trust your life to an anomaly? Planes have...

Debating on leaf spring vs. 4-link

Chappy, Here's some pics of an original mount and a link to a guy who makes reproductions: stagger I didn't use his parts but it looks similar. My upper panel doesn't have the tabs on the edges, it's welded directly to the trunk floor/sides for a more seamless look and the lower panel...

Debating on leaf spring vs. 4-link

250lb springs. That sounds heavy but Flex-a-Form must measure the rate differently. They do not feel stiff. How much power? It's a "mild" Genesis aluminum sideoiler 482FE, 500HP/525Tq going through a TKO600. Tires are BFG KDWs 275/40/17. Crappy picture of the upper mount, I just slid under...

Debating on leaf spring vs. 4-link

The guys at Flex-aForm have done enough of these for Mustangs that you just have to tell them what you have and what you want. I told him I have a '67 with a big block for street use and I wanted a one inch drop. He nailed the stance I wanted. In comparison, I changed front coil springs four...

    manual brakes.. who has them?

Not a single pro-power brake reply? There is a saying that goes: "Beware of the man with one gun, for he probably knows how to use it." All new cars have power brakes. Unless your non-power brake car is the only one you drive, that is what you (and most drivers) are used to. Note all...

Just how safe can you feasibly get a first generation Mustang to be?

Browsing through the latest Consumer Reports 2009 Auto issue, I count 34 different car manufactures and they didn't include Aston Martin, Bugati, Maserati, or Ferrari. I am sure there are a few more too. Lets say 40 manufactures offering 5 models each - that's 200 different cars. Prices range...

Debating on leaf spring vs. 4-link

Fiberglass springs + staggered shocks = no wheel hop with 482FE Global West Del-alum bushings = roll and lateral control + no need for sway bars or panhard bars that make fitting dual exhaust difficult.

2V vs. 4V Cleveland Build Question

Aussie 2v Cleveland heads are about $400 bare. By the time you put in valves, springs, guides and hardened seats you are real close to the cost of Edelbrock's new aluminum 2v Cleveland heads. For only 300hp though, I don't think you will need them. Definitely don't go with the 4v heads.

Help me decide which wheels would look best on my car.

That's good for a start but there is easily a .25 difference in height and/or section width between some manufacture's tires. Darreld is right, Tirerack.com makes it very easy to compare tire specs.

Help me decide which wheels would look best on my car.

Fitting wide tires up front is not just about backspace. You need to have the shelby drop or a negative camber system. With the stock suspension the tops of the wheels move out during spring compression. With the shelby drop, the tops of the wheels will move in. How much negative camber you...
