    MSD Coil Pack Upgrade

    I running the MSD 4-tower coil packs and have zero complaints. I'm also running Taylor 8mm wires and NGK TR55 plugs.

    I'm in the process of taking out the 2v engine entirely, and putting in the aluminum 4v engine. Seems pretty straight forward, but I'm sure there will be a few minor things I'll have to change. The 4v has soooo much potential... :)

    New Factory Block, Windsor or Romeo??

    I'd go with the Romeo, as that is what came in the majority of Mustangs. The main bearing sets are different between the blocks, and they are not interchangeble. I don't think it would be a big deal either way.

    I've got the UPR catted X-pipe and didn't need the O2 sims. I just reused the stock rear O2 sensors. :nice:

    Can an Engine "Get Stuck" for Sitting 2+ years..? (pistons)

    Even on an aluminum block, the bore sleeve is still steel. If it sat unused for 2 years, it can cause the piston rings to get corroded to the bore, essentially "freezing" the piston assembly to the bore. When you try to turn the motor over, the ring can actually break.

    $3K equals a Procharger P1SC kit or a VERY good DIY turbo kit...which also equals a certain grand national driver seeing some taillights!!! :)

    Wow, that's weird. I made 653 FWHP on my TR6's in my '97 383/N20 WS6 last year...and I'm sure as hell not the only one to swear by the NGK's... I change plugs once a year, so I wouldn't consider that unreasonable.

    The bigger gap won't cause a "ping", but too much plug gap under higher boost pressures can lead to misfires. The original plug heat range could lead to detonation/preignition conditions in a power adder car. As mentioned above, go one heat range colder...like an NGK TR6 or equivalent...

    Assigning a RWHP number for component durability is insane. Detonation, tune, and RPMs will have way more impact on how long the rotating assembly lasts... As for boost, the 03/4 Cobras were boosted from the factory and came with forged pistons, so that should give you an idea of what needs...

    I had an O/R H-pipe with my Blowmasters, and it sounded like ass IMO. I switched to a catted X-pipe and it's much better sounding. Definitely less raspy, and sounds better when you stomp on it. Just my 2 cents, of course. :)

    Yeah, I've seen a '96 Z28 run 9.97 @ 135 using an S-trim on a 383...so it'll move enough air to make power. Obviously, the car needs a ton of supporting mods to do that...

    So you're only running about 6# of boost...non-intercooled no less...have no mods (except for the S-trim)....and your mad about a 30-35% increase in RWHP? I think you're worked up for nothing. As many of the others guys posted, you have alot of improvements you can do to get that number up...

    I only drove my bird about 1500 miles/year, so I can't vouch for everyday. But I didn't notice any difference in driveability of any kind. In other words...just do it. :D

    As mentioned, definitely colder plugs! I ran NGK TR6 (one step colder) with great luck. 653 fwhp in my '97 WS6 383 cid. :nice:

    I expected as much...36# injectors seemed small. What boost level do you anticipate running to achieve the power levels you wanted? What boost to fuel pressure increase ratio does the KB FMU give you? Once you had those numbers you could rerun the formula... ...it'll probably come out to...

    Does the KB use an FMU? If not and you're running ~43# of fuel pressure, 36# injectors are way too small. To make 500 RWHP, you'll need to make about 590 FWHP assuming 15% drivetrain loss. Using a BSFC of .55 and a max duty cycle of 80%, it looks like you'll need around 50#/hr injectors to...
