    What compression to run w/blower?

I'm thinking about getting a blower, and I was wondering if I would need to lower my compression? I'm running 289 hypo heads which raise the compression about 1 point over stock, so I figure I'm at 9.5 to 1. I'm also running an E303 cam. Would that work with a blower?

Is it necessary to change the torque conv. when installing a new tranny?

I worked at a transmission shop a while back, and we always installed a new converter. We NEVER reused a converter after trany failure.

    buying transgo shift kit

I use Transgo kits in all my AODs. In my opinion they are the best. However, I don't much like the high rev gov for street use. I've used it before, and around town it wouldn't let it shift out. Normal driving at 35 mph it would hold it in 2nd gear keeping the RPMs high, which killed my gas...

    88 Lincoln Mark VII 5.0 H.0 What's diff than Stang 5.0?

I was told that the Mark VII didn't have forged pistons like the Mustang. I was also told that the cam duration was different. But I'm not a Mark VII expert.

    electric fans (again)

If the Mark VIII fan and shroud will fit your radiator, that should work great. The parts house told me that aftermarket factory replacement fans don't come with any kind of shroud, and the fan just mounts to the radiator. We replaced an electric fan on a V-8 T-Bird the other day, and I noticed...

    86vs87-93 lower intake...any difference

I ran an '86 intake before I switched to the Explorer intake, and I couldn't see any difference in the '86 and a '90 I have from another vehicle.

    electric fans (again)

I can't remember what CFM it is, but I use a 16" fan I got from AutoZone with a 180 degree thermostat. I measured my radiator and had an HVAC shop press me out a fan shroud to mount on the radiator, and I mounted the fan to that. You may be able to mount the fan to the radiator itself without a...

    Phenolic Spacers???????

I've got a 1" spacer on my GT40/Explorer intake. It seems to keep the intake a little cooler when driving. But if I have to idle around a lot, everything under the hood gets very hot from the heat coming off of the headers. I installed the spacer mainly for the added torque it provides by...

    Vacuum Leak?????

I got a new TPS with the new throttle body, so that's probably not it. If I have a vacuum leak, would it somehow make the computer keep the IAC open? Because I can unplug it and it idles fine.

    Vacuum Leak?????

Yes, I thought about that, but I don't have anything hooked up to compensate for the A/C or power steering. This engine is in a '84 F150, and I didn't hook any of that up when I did the conversion. It was doing perfect until I put the Explorer intake on it. It runs very strong, but hasn't...

Broken Kickdown cable+AOD = OMG HELP!

I ran into this one time when I did a conversion. I never could find a cable, but I did find an AOD throttle valve rod from Ford. It is an adjustable rod that does the same thing as the cable. You can usually tell if the line pressure in the AOD is right by feeling the shift pattern when...

    Vacuum Leak?????

Idealy the green wire on the TPS should be .98 volts at closed throttle, but actually Ford says anywhere from .7 to 1 volt is fine. At wide open throttle it should be close to 5 volts (same as the reference voltage) but it usually ends up being around 4. But none of this has made any...

    Vacuum Leak?????

I made a previous post about a high idle problem after installing a new intake, and some of the feedback I got suggested that it could be a vacuum leak. After acceleration it idles between 1700 and 2000 rpm. I can unplug the IAC and it drops back to normal. I plug it back in and it jumps up...

    High Idle Problem

With the IAC disconected, and under no load, the idle is set perfect. The IAC is clean and installed correctly. I did replace it to help solve this problem. I put the bypass plate on it a while back because it had an erratic idle due to the E303 cam I am running. The bypass plate fixed that...

    1.7 Rockers with E303 cam???

I'm running an E303 in mine, and I have a set of 289 heads on it. I would definitely recommend heavy duty valve springs. I have double springs, and I had to get some good roller rockers because I was breaking the stock rockers in half.

    High Idle Problem

Yes, I reset the TPS. I got it as close to .98 milli volts as I could. I was told that .98 was the optimum setting.

    High Idle Problem

The first thing I did was look for vacuume leaks but so far I have not found one. However, that doesn't mean that I have not overlooked something. If I had a vacuum leak, would it idle back down if I unplug the IAC? I can unplug it and it will idle back down, but I can't drive it like that...

    High Idle Problem

I recently installed a '99 Explorer intake on my 5.0 and I now have an idle problem. After hard excelleration it will not come back down to an idle, it stays around 2k rpm. I can unplug the IAC and it will idle back down to normal. I have replaced the IAC assembly, I installed a new computer, I...
