    Edelbrock 650 Thunder AVS Carburetor

I have that carb, had that problem. Used to foul out plugs like no tomorrow. Replaced the Duraspark with an MSD 6 box, no more problems. Doesn't hurt that I have a 200 amp alternator. Not necessarily your problem, still I used to mess with that carb all the time. Ask Woodsnake, he knows.

Drive shaft weld and balance costs

Had my stocker cut and rebalanced, painted, and spicer's installed, $130. That was in Boise, rates are a little higher there. Solved a lot of problems though, harmonic vibration, gone!!

Running Hot after temp sending unit installed

I have heard and experienced aftermarket temp sending units not having the correct electrical resistance. I replaced mine, wish I hadn't, and the gauge now registers over halfway at normal running. I know the car is not running this hot, I put a huge aluminum radiator and taurus fan in it...

    clunk when shifting in reverse

GNB Gnb is the brand for the garbage u joints that Schucks / Orielly sells. I think I've gotten them at Napa too, really lousy quality. They cut loose and cause frowns nearly every time... I've been working on this car for nearly five years now, getting really tired of doing anything twice...

    clunk when shifting in reverse

if you replace your u joints, take the drive line to a shop have it balanced and install spicers. The cheap GNB crap never lasted me more than six months, ... mmmmm busted u joints, spinning driveshaft, stranded in November. On another note, don't let me send you astray, but when my trans...

I WANT TO UPDATE MY STEERING

yellowxr7 had great results with the Borgeson box, haven't seen him around for a while. Anyway, he rebuilt the whole steering system with Borgeson stuff, seemed really pleased. I've had great luck with the Randall's rack, been running it for nearly five years, though the price seems to be...

Is there a carb better than a Holley 4bbl?

That's a matter of opinion and a religious issue for many. Stick with what you know. Learning to tune a carb design you ain't familiar with is a PITA IMHO. There are some upgraded versions of the standard Holley out there, demon, Barry Grant, etc. The better versions don't come cheap...

Power Steering acts weird in my 69.

Larger diameter pump pulley is supposed to do the trick, though I don't know by how much. '70's Ford trucks had them. Junkyard and a ruler I guess...

Power Steering acts weird in my 69.

Hoses to control valve from cylinder reversed? usually will make the steering even crazier. Otherwise, yes, control valve is bad. Buy a new one or get your rebuilt by stangersite... I think, been a while. I hate the stock steering. Manual conversion is a pretty good idea...

Crane Vaccuum advance makes backfire - carb?

Hey Brian, good to hear from you. I replaced the distributor because the shaft bushing was shot, back in January. The reluctor was slamming against the pickup.

Crane Vaccuum advance makes backfire - carb?

Hi all this one has me stymied, and is costing me a load of fuel. recently, i had to replace a bad distributor. Naturally I removed my Crane Cams 99607-1 before returning the old distributor for a core. I did not remove the advance springs. I did not put new advance springs in the new...

    Anyone try this yet???

your car, do what you want! Reenmachine grafted a 66 onto an 03 chassis, don't see how you can get any more radical than that. Don

    What would YOU do?

Yup, pull up the carpet and check the torque boxes. Also take a close look at the wheel wells in the trunk. Things you'll want to address before paint.

    Suspension Ideas

I'd avoid the KYB shocks, have them now, not much fun to count every piece of gum and small change I happen to run over. If you can, save the extra money and get the better shocks.

    Distributor Options

cool, I understand, just wanted to put that out there. Common problem I have run into over and over. I started with Pertronix 1, went to Duraspark, then to Duraspark w/ msd, things improved in that order.

    Distributor Options

I don't know what your experience with putting distributors is, but often the oil pump driveshaft needs be aligned with the distributor shaft. The result of an unaligned pump driveshaft will be the distributor will refuse to seat past the seal (about a 1/3 of an inch)The easiest way to move the...

    ABS Electric Master Cylinder

Ok, so looked around on this, $950. Then again, considering you don't need to plumb a crapload of hydraulics.... Seems pretty reasonable. Here's some info on it, Hyrdatech Hydroboost or ABS Electric High Power Master? - Pro-Touring.com

    Will this work (T5z)

My starter for my 68 302 block works just fine with my 96 explorer 302 and 86 mustang t5 w/ 50 oz imbalance. It strikes me that many others have used late model starters on early engines. It's mostly all interchangeable. The trans mounting never really changed, bolts sizes might be different...
