    Pertonix Ignitor I Question

The mission is complete. I pulled the old, worn distributor out and installed the new Pertronix distributor. I ran a 16 gauge wire from the green/red wire from the ignition switch to the + side of the coil. I ran the Ignitor red wire to the + side of the coil and black wire to the - side of...

    Pertonix Ignitor I Question

Ok, I called CJ and the tech rep said my Ignitor I would work fine with the Flamethrower II coil. I asked if he had ever installed any Pertronix and he said he hadn't. I wasn't convinced so I called Pertronix tech support and their rep was more knowledgable (as I would expect). He said...

    Pertonix Ignitor I Question

She got them at CJ Pony Parts. I will be calling them and Pertronix tomorrow. I just started the Mustang for the first time since putting her away for the Winter last November. Drove arond the circle then changed the oil. I want to get the new distributor in to see if there is much...

    Pertonix Ignitor I Question

My wife bought me a Pertronix distributor with the Ignitor I installed and a Flamethrower coil for Christmas. Now that the NY winter is almost over I want to install it. 1967 Mustang, 289, 2v. Some questions: 1) They sold her the Flamethrower II coil. I think that's wrong and not a match...

    Hagerty Insurance?

I use Haggerty, $250/yr for $25,000 coverage on a '67 Fastback. Have not filed any claims. They send a nice magazine a few times a year and a monthly e-mail. Both good reading about our hobby.

    Headlight Switch Knob - Stem

Last week after a car show and afterparty I started the car to drive home and when I pulled the headlight switch knob out, the whole stem came out of the switch. The lights did not come on. I could reach up and push the release button but nothing I did would get the stem to catch. I had to...

    Upper Control Arm Lube

I loosened the zirk end but not the 90 degree part that threads into the control arm. Still didn't take grease. I'll have to try loosening the 90 degree end and see what happens. I already put the tires back on so it will be lateer in the season. I needed the jackstands to work on another...

Crushed oil filter trying to remove it... how to get it out

I know I'm late to this thread...a word of caution...the screwdriver method causes sharp edges in the metal and can cause cuts on the hand once it's loose and you start turning by hand. Don't ask me how I know... :)

    Upper Control Arm Lube

That's a good idea (loosening). I'll try it this weekend. These arms are new ( 2 seasons, about 3500 miles) so I'm sure they're still lubed from the factory but I want to make sure I keep them that way. Hopefully loosening the zirk will do the trick. Thanks for all the advice. Rob

    Upper Control Arm Lube

I'd be happy if they only took a little...these won't take any. I'll try again in a day or so.

    Upper Control Arm Lube

I have the correct 90 degree Mustang-specific zerk fittings (CJ Pony Parts). I get the gun on the fitting squarely but when I try to pump, no grease flows. I have no trouble with the ball jonts and tie rods but can't get grease into the upper arms. It's like the fittings are plugged but I...

    Upper Control Arm Lube

I have aftermarket, OEM-Style upper control arms with the 90 degree grease fittings. I've tried to grease them but they won't accept grease. Do I need to loosen the large nuts on the ends of the arms? Is there a trick I'm overlooking? They have been installed for two summer driving...

    65 fueling issue?

That's abnormally soon for failure. The diaphragm must have been defective from the manufacturing process. It's possible it was a result of one of the new gasoline blends (ethanol) that prematurely destroyed the diphragm.

    Window Regulator Binding

Yea, I'm thinking the same thing. I notice there is a related thread on this subject. I guess I'll be placing an order for a regulator.

    Window Regulator Binding

Last week my passenger window regulator started getting hung up as I (wife) was rolling it up. I was able to work it up and down to get it into the up position. Last night I removed the handles, arm rest, and inner door panel and it rolled up and down fine. When I put everything back together...

    Removing fuel sending unit

GT 2+2: Thanks for the info on gauge adjustment. I'll give it a shot one of these days...maybe not right away but at some point I will. JC: I used Permatex #2 in the area where the gasket contacts the tank. It holds the gasket in place while you get the sender positioned. My locking...

    Removing fuel sending unit

Today I drained my tank (again), removed the sending unit, bent the arm slightly downward, reinstalled, then re-filled tank one gallon @ a time and recorded needle position with each gallon added. Now the gauge reads full when the tank is full. I'll monitor as I use fuel and re-fill. It's a...
