new fuel pump, pressure drops to 0 after shutoff

I was tinkering around yesterday and I noticed that if I turn the key to the on position but do not crank the car, the pump will prime and the pressure will go to around 35 and stay there after I take the key out. It is only after I crank the car and then turn it off that the pressure goes to 0...

new fuel pump, pressure drops to 0 after shutoff

The title says it all. I just put a new fuel pump in last weekend. Now, as soon as I shut the car off the pressure drops to 0 immediatley. I have heard of a bad check valve in the fuel pump. How bad is this for my car, is it something I need to address immediatley(I dont really want to drop...

    car running terrible! help

I had the same thing happen to me. I read the codes, replaced sensors, new TFI, swapped distributors, new plug wires........... It turned out to be bad gasoline. When I pulled the fuel filter off, I let it drain into a plastic bottle. About half of what was in the bottle was gas, the other...

    Magnaflow H-pipe

Is anybody using the Magnaflow H pipe that is for sale in the partshopper? http://www.partshopper.com/shop/Magnaflow-SS-H-Pipe-87-93-50L-m60.html I hear good things about Magnaflow products, and the price looks good for a catted pipe. However, Partshopper seems to be the only place on the...

    quick question about fuel pressure

Do fuel pressure and fuel volume go hand in hand, or are they independent? For example, my car puts out around 37 psi at idle but it seems like the car is not getting enough fuel, i.e. rough idle. If I had a clogged fuel filter, would I still read high fuel pressure or would the pressure drop?

    sounds like a cam

I kid you not, 20 degrees plus. I brought it back down to 10 degrees, still sounds bad but that much timing worries me.

    sounds like a cam

one more thing. I tried adjusting the timing and if I took it up past 20 it seemed to idle better. It sounds like detonation and it goes away with the higer timing, but i don't want to drive around with 25 degrees of timing. That just doesn't feel right.

    sounds like a cam

I was driving to work last week and all of the sudden my car starts acting funny. When sitting at idle, the car sounds like it has a big cam in it and it will buck pretty badly just driving without my foot on the gas. I dumped the codes and I get a 12 Idle Speed Control motor or Air Bypass not...

    ignition module, automatic vs manual

Well, i finished the AOD to t5 conversion:nice: Now, a new problem. Car runs like crap. I dumped the codes and got a 14 Ignition pickup (PIP) was erratic. So instead of just getting the pickup needed and having to deal with pressing off the gear, I am going to get a remanufactured unit from...

    Bad Catalytic Converter?

If one of the cats on my stock H-pipe has clogged, would I notice on a cold start? Right now when I crank my car after it has cooled completely, i.e. overnight, my car idles fine until it heats up. Once it reaches normal operating temperature, the idle goes to crap and the H-pipe heats up alot...

What did I do???? Long post

I agree. The swap is going to happen this weekend. :nice: However, I would like to have a driveable car when it is all said and done. Does anyone know what would happen if one of my new O2 sensor wires melted on the pipe? I'm going to check this tomorrow. I just figured if something...

What did I do???? Long post

One more thing. While I was driving home today, when I came to a stoplight the car would idle about 800 rpms and drop to just below 600 rmps over about a 30 seconds. Vacuum problems? This started all of the sudden today.:bang:

What did I do???? Long post

I am going through the AOD to T5 swap. Two weekends ago I began, but found out that the nuts on the two header studs on the driver side were not going to come out without breaking something. So, I tell the wife that I need new headers in order to continue. A few days later the FRPP headers...

    copper header gasket shoulder

I am about to put some FRPP shorty headers in next weekend and I bought some MAC copper header gaskets. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/iwwida.pvx?;item?item_no=MAC-3251%20%20%20%20%20%20%201&comp=LRS One side has a "shoulder" while the other side has an "impression". Should the shoulder...

    CLutch pedal height

Maximum Motorsports has a Clutch Pedal Height Adjuster. Here is a link to the install instructions. http://www.maximummotorsports.com/content/install/pdf/drivetrain_clutch/MMCL-10r1.pdf I have used this to place my clutch pedal at the same height of my brake pedal. It works great for me.

    pedal swap done, almost

I finally got the pedals in place. It was a major pain. Im going to button everything back up, but I have a connection that I can't find where it goes to. It looks like it should go somewhere on the steering column. Any suggestions? Also, on the 5 speed pedal assembly, where do I hook up...

    Front Brake Gurus: Enter Please!

Try the brake sleeves. i.e. http://www.steeda.com/products/stainless_steel_brake_sleeves.php Before I put these on, it sounded like my car was going to fall apart when driving down a rough road. Search on them, I hope you can find a better price than listed on Steeda's site. I think I paid...
