01 COBRA STARTING PROBLEM

Having a problem with my 01 cobra recently changed out the fuel pump for a bbk 255mp because thought that was the starting problem. but not it, every time i turn the key and give it gas it lags if there was a fuel problem then after a while it turns on not sure what it could be so need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you change the fuel filter recently? When you turn the key on but don't start the car can you hear the fuel pump cycle on and off?
