i did a motor swap on my mustang and i got it to run. put a new batter in and took her for a test drive. ran fine until i pulled into my driveway where she just died. when i went to start it again after it died it was making a clunk sound when i tried to turn it over. any ideas? also the car had been sitting for a few months before i could get to putting the engine in

Check the battery voltage, make sure the battery is fully charged and porperly connected. What it sounds like to me is the battery died and does not have the juice to keep the starter cranking so you're hearing the thud of the start shooting out and trying to engauge the flywheel but it can't move the flywheel.
