black exhaust tips

What do you guys think about painting my exhuast tips black?? They're stainless steel but are turning that goldish color. Not only that but they get a lot of black soot on them, why does. The car do this? I never had this problem with my 02... Maybe it'll look good when I get my black wheels?

i don't know...I prefer the chrome look but you may be able to pull it off with your back bumper.

Yea that's what I was thinking. Believe me I like the polished look to but I can't go 2days after washing it before they get all black again. I'd just hate to do it and regret it

get some black chrome tips this way its dark enough you don't notice the dirt as much. but they are still shiny.

I thought about black chrome but was told at the muffler shop that the black tint will flake off so I stayed away from those

I have chrome polish that works great, use VERY fine steel wool, will get the black off and make it look good as new.

OH, and painting it black...I dont know how well that will turn out.

The black stuff comes off with soap and water, will the polish and steel wool remove the goldish color from the heat?
