In need of an 03 Cobra gas tank and pump. Anyone know where I could find this stuff reasonably? I've checked a few junkyards, and they are around $500-$600. In the parts computer at a local yard on the Hollander system, it is showing as 03-04 Cobra only. I am thinking it is showing that way only due to the fact that the fuel pump is different. I have been told that the tank itself is the same in 99 up cars. Anybody know if there is any truth to that? I was also told by a good friend that had a turbo Focus that he's heard of a lot of people using Focus pump stuff in 03-04 Cobras; can anyone verify that, and how well it works?

    Thanks in advance!

Do you need this 03 tank & pumps for replacement into an '03 Cobra or to transplant into something different?

It will be going in a genuine 03 Cobra...no transplant.

Well if that's the case and you're looking at needing increased pump volume you might want to look into using the pumps from the Ford GT. They are THE hot ticket for heavily modified Cobra's. Used to be the Focus pumps were the way to go, then it was pumps from the Navigator, now the GT.

As for getting a tank try calling Steve at Tousley Ford. He advertises ALL Ford OEM parts for 10% over cost. 1-800-328-9552

I wonder if he would know about whether the tank itself is 03-04 only or not. I know the Hollander says it is, but a guy at a local junkyard says he is pretty certain the tank itself off a 99+ car will work, with the 03-04 Cobra fuel pump, of course.

Thanks for the info! If anyone else has any info, please chime in as well...I keep getting yes's and no's on this tank fitment thing, damn...lol

Part numbers are different. Not sure if it's due to the different pumps or if there is some other reason.

Yeah, that's the same thing I'm getting. Guess we will try a little trial-and-error; if the tank doesn't work, we can always take it back, since we know the people we're going to get it from.

I'm not sure a GT pump will work; I am pretty sure the Cobra is higher flow. The tank itself is the thing I'm unsure of...

If you are starting from scratch why not go with a real pump? The Aeromotive A1000 I use is good up to 1100 HP. They also have a nice Return type fuel rail and regulator system. Even a pump controler that adjusts pressure when you go into boost.

Check them out. They are the best.

Let me know what you would want out of them, and if the bf hasn't already found something, he may be interested.

WTF? Did you figure out what was causing the recent problems you were having? Is it that serious?

The cobra tank is baffled and the regular tank isn't. That's the only difference. Otherwise they are swapable between cars. My understanding is that the baffling help keep the gas within the canister. Without that the cobra pump could easily suck the canister dry under WOT if you have less then a 1/4 tank of gas. That's my understanding anyway.

I'd say if you have a cobra and are using the cobra pump you should go with the cobra tank.

I will tell my bf about that; what you're saying makes sense.
