1 5/8 headers to big?

i just put a set of bbk 1 5/8 headers on my car and i think i took away to much backpressure. I know i lost power at the bottom. Did my power much or do you guys think i lost it totally. I have offroad x pipe and 2 chamber flowmasters do i need more back pressure? the car is regeared and underdrives .

should be fine...the way it is i run the same as you do and i gained after install...i think you lost it totaly....lol.

i think you lost it totally.. one of the big corks on the 5.0l is the exhaust..

Listen Nate, when you put exhaust on a car it robs you a little on low end but you get a bigger increase on top end- 1 5/8 are the standard upgrade for a 5.0- have at it buddy!

I just put the BBK 1 5/8s on my fox a couple weeks ago and I also felt like I lost the low-end punch but it noticeably picked up mid and top range power.

I have 1 3/4 and I lost a lot of bottom end, but up top it really pulls.

1 5/8 is a very very common mustang size. Should be fine.

it is a mith that you need backpressure, the less backpressure you have the more power you make (even on the low end), don't get that confused with scavanging or finite amplitude wave tuneing. Idelaly you want to run the smallest diamenter pipe that will allow your engines exaust gasses to still have Laminar flow.

yes the 1 5/8 would be a very good upgrade. If you put serious power in the 5.0L you will need 1 3/4's.
