1250 has egr blockoff inserts, should I use them?

Just got the 1250 intake gasket today, it came with inserts for the EGR port. Can I block this off and not run into problems? I won't have an air pump or cats. I would like to keep that extra heat out of the intake if I could. What did you guys do? Thanks.

It could pop a check engine light, but you can get a kit to stop that. It won't make any running problems though.
