Unfortunatly, it wasn't me.. but I did see it!!. The latest issue of Muscle Mustang's and Fast Ford's came with a DVD. Well, I looked though the mag and deceided to see what was on the disk, so I popped it in. The DVD is about getting the most power for your '05 and newer GT. They basline dynoed the car, and took it to the track. The first run was: 13.356 @ 103.10 MPH Second Run: 13.450 @ 103.36 MPH Final Run: 13.352 @ 103.09 MPH (Evan Smith was the driver) This shows that stock the new mustang's are indeed "low - to - mid" thirteen second cars. Not "mid - to -high." Yes, I realize that Evan is a professional driver, but it shows the car is indeed capable. Second, what is neat is that they install an intake and tune, then dyno the car, install a throttle body then dyno the car; install exhaust and dyno the car... etc. I always see posts asking about gains on mods, if you really want to know, watch this DVD. They literally install a mod then dyno the car. One thing that is kind of dissapointing is that they put a nice intake with a tune on the car, then turn around and have to remove it becuase they install a Vortech. Seems like there would be some way that you could use the intake with the supercharger. Sorry for rambling on, but I find this really cool and am now extremely motivated!! The Mod Monster in me has awoken!!
maybe a newstand only issue has the DVD, or possibly only the subscribers. (nobody said they had a subscription or bought it from the newstand, so its not 100%)
I would have to see it to believe it. I guess the track they were at had some great asphalt and track prep. Nice
There's a track in MD (Cecil?) that is quite fast. Everyone always gets incredibly fast times there. I think one 05 GT owner w/ a 3650 ran 13.2 bone stock.
I have that DVD, it was very good and I now have a pretty good idea aout how much hp you can get from your normal bolt-ons
I picked it up at the news stand after my dad told me about it. It's the issue that has the 1100 HP twin turbo Ford GT, and the GT500 that they are doing a three column special on. I plan on subscribing, seems to be a good magazine.
Thats a really good time. I havn't been to the track in my 07 GT yet. I have only been to the track a couple times back when I had my SRT-4. What is an average time for our cars with not such an experienced driver?
Well, if Evan popped off a couple of 13.3's.. and in '05 Motor Trend got a 13.5, and Edmunds got a 13.8... I'd say with a Newbie driver (that at least has some experience and has been to a track once or twice.... you should hit mid to high 13's. If you are inexperienced, I'd say low 14's.
not that i have a lot of expeirence, but i got a 14.2 in my 06 Vert in a 30+ MPH headwind at Fontana(local track).Hoping for 13's with more clutch time.
I know Evan Smith can drive, but that video had so much shadiness in it that it made me feel greasy just watching it.
That's Feb '07 newsstand only which irks me because I'm a subscriber I don't deserve the DVD to hook me into a purchase I already made. The March issue is out now so good luck finding it, I ended up paying newsstand price for a second issue and now feel cheap and used.
also did't like the idea i had to buy newsstand issue to get it.agree on the ?of the dvd.i have intake, catback, diablo and the cust. tune.mine is quick but i'm not sure i could get low 13s with it.fluff to sell mag.
I would have liked to see a before and after with each individual bolt on. Not a cumulative total of all the at the same time. But either way it was interesting. I would also like to see different brands pitted against each other.
was it really bone stock... like even the stock rubber? A nice set of drag radials will help get the time into the mid-low 13's and the car could still be called "bone-stock"... or could it? Also, depends on track and weather conditions... my local track is LACR and it's at 3000' above sea level... I'd like to see a bone-stock 05 GT run mid-low 13's there...
