I have a set of 14x7, 4.25" backspacing original Magnum 500's that I am planning to use on my '67 coupe (all suspension is original) once it gets back from paint! They have to be BFG Radial T/A's (RWL) for the right look ;) They make the Radial T/A's in:

205, 215, 225, 235, 245 / 60 / 14

195, 205, 215, 225 / 70 / 14

I do not want to roll the fenders, or change any of the suspension components just to make larger tires fit - I will be happy with whatever doesn't rub and will fill the well nicely. I realize the front end is more limited because of the a arm, and would be ok with running a slimmer size in front and a tad wider in back or all 4 the same.

Anyone run something like this? Pictures?

i run the orginal magnum 500's on my 65. although our body is different i run 225/70s all the way around. enough meat to firmly plant you dont but nothing overkill.

my rims arent as nice as yours may be but they are orginal.

Those 70 series look pretty good, and 225's are a fine width (although 245's in the back would be fun...I would rather achieve proper fit than deal with occasional rubbing).

Anyone else have advice?

245's fit

I have old series cragars 14x7 and 245/60/14's fit w/ no rubbing on a 68 cougar. 225/70/14 and 245/60/14 are close in overall height

Anyway, here is a overall diameter calculator I made in Excel a while back.

I have Cragar 14x7 wheels
with BFG Radial TA’s
215/60 in the front and 265/50 in the back.
They did rub but I went with a narrower 1959, 9" inch rear it took care of that. Now when I upgrade to a bigger wheel can run a larger tire with the right backspacing

I would say 245/60 would be a good choice for your rears. 215 or 225 up front.

14x7 magnums with 4.25 backspace hit the upper a-arm bulge over the ball joint on my 69 Cougar. 14x6 have 3.5 backspace and cleared everything.

I used 225-70R14 Goodyear Eagle ST tires on these rims and they looked and worked great.
