Sorry for posting this but the answer to my question is elusive. I dont want rubbing anywhere and dont want to have to relocate anything to mount wide tires in the rear. will 255 45 17 in the front and 285 40 17 be ok. what is the biggest I can go without rubbing? and not have the tires overhang the rim so much. I want a nice flat rim to tire look with no overhang or as little as possible over the lip of the wheels.

I have 275/40's on the front and they do rub a little at full lock. 255's should be fine. My 315's do rub on the fenders a little and I had to remove the quad shocks to get them to fit.

I have a freind with 285's on his car and they do rub a little on the fenders. But I think he's using 1/8" wheel spacers so they may not rub without them. He also removed his quad shocks, but Im not sure if its required to get the tires to fit  .

Edit: Trimming the rear fenderwell at the body shop fixed the rubbing problem on both of our cars.
