180* Thermostat and Fan Settings?

I am going to install a 180* T-stat in my car and I want to know what I should change the on and off fan settings to with my diablosport? I used the search feature but couldn't find anything on temps, just a lot of posts that say in order to gain any benefit from a cooler t-stat you have to change the fan settings.

I had this saved off. They are supposed to be the SCT recommended fan settings using the stock thermostat (195?). I guess you could subtract whatever the difference between the stock and your 180*.

Low Speed Fan ON: 200
Low Speed Fan OFF: 192
High Speed Fan 1 ON: 210
High Speed Fan 2 ON: 214
High Speed Fan OFF: 202

Yes then subtract 12. This is the procedure outlined in the SCT tuning manual.

When I did mine I set the lower on/off settings higher than the hi on/off setting so the fan only comes on in hi never in low. One of the magazines did that on one of their test ponies they wrote about.

jstreet....are you referring to a basic tuning manual that comes with the SCT device standard, or are you referring to the extra detailed one that some shops are charging an extra $75 for?

The extra one, on page 111. It basically says, if your stock thermostat is 195 and you are putting in a 180, subtract 15 from all the fan values.

It may be in the other manual too. I don't have that one so I don't know. I think the video is supposed to be better than the book though.

I got a 180* at advanced auto. At the time they didn't have a listing for a 180* for a mustang, I had to get one for a 95 tbird.

I had Kragen or a JET model got the part number from summit racing.

The major benefit is to reduce the potential for detonation. This is needed if you're bumping the timing or running a blower.

New to the Modular cars. Are the T-stats the same size for the 2v and 4v? I have an 03 Mach1 and want a 180 T-stat for it.
