aren't the v6 K members different than the v8? when you switch over, you're going to have to switch that as well.

This may sound stupid but...
I wouldn't destroy or dispose of any of the old parts including emissions parts. There will come a day, not too far into the future, where there will be people looking for those "lame" parts to restore a Mustang that someone else hacked up. That tiny V-8 is rare and will bring a pretty penny one day to Mustang collectors.
the 4.2 will never be a collector.

Eh, they said the same thing back in the day when the straight sixes came in the first Mustangs. Look at them now.
The engine itself probably won't be worth much, but in a mint condition original car it'll be a diamond in the rough.
