I'm in the process of (attempting) to give my '99 Mustang to my cousin.

Unfortunately, she lives in PA and this is causing some issues. The car is currently in NJ, but it is not registered, inspected, or insured. So I sent her the title so she could take care of the registration and such, and come pick up the car.

PA DMV is requesting a rubbing of the VIN number. Yes, a rubbing. With a pencil.

The problem is, you can't get a rubbing off the VIN plate by the windshield, there isn't enough room to get a pencil in there.

Where else can you get a rubbing of the VIN? I know the VIN is on the drivers side door frame, but its a sticker and you can't get a rubbing off it.

I know it has to be etched somewhere else on the car but I haven't been able to find it so far.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
