2000 v6 tranny swap question

I need to know if this will be a direct and easy swap. mine is a 2000 3.8 and I believe a t5 5 speed trans. I found one used off a 1998 v6 5 speed. Dude claims it is the same. I just need to be sure before i purchase

The dimensions are the same, however, there is a magnetic trigger ring in the 99-04 models that drives the speedometer. In 94-98 cars the speedo is driven by a mechanical gear. I'm not sure how hard it is to swap that trigger ring onto the 94-98 tranny. Last I checked it looked as though the trigger ring was attached to the reverse gear. I could be wrong but that's what it looked like to me.
