Who ya got? I'm being a homer but I have my Phillies in 5 or 6. We have to win one of the first two in Tampa Bay. Hamels has been lights out. Myers has pitched (and batted) fairly well. Blanton has been a good acquisition. Our bullpen has been pitching very well throughout the stretch. We just need all of our bats to show up at the same time, which was something we've been having trouble with this entire season.

i am pretty impressed with the rays sure my red sox were a little beat up but they played a hell of a series and I was shocked they won game 7 after the big comeback in game 5 by the sox.. they won both lester starts and one beckett start.. Thats impressive.

I would like to see the phillies win since they have not won since 1980 or so and the rays did not have fans before this year so they can wait a few years, plus johnny gomes is a douche I don't want that asshat to get a ring, the rest of the rays are ok.

As long as its not boston I don't care. I was rooting for the rays. I think the Rays are gonna pull it off and the Yankees and the red sox are going to have another team to worry about for the 09 season. The AL east is the toughest division.

I dont really care about baseball, but I am pulling for the Rays just because it would be cool if they went from worst team to champion the next year, especially given their payroll and the fact they are in the same division with the Sox and Yanks who spend more money than Bush did on the war in Iraq.

I say philly ****s it up in the end as in tradition for Philadelphia sports teams. How many final / championship games have wee been to in the last 10 years? O right a lot, and we lost every single one.

    GO PHILADELPHIA!

Hey at least we are #1 for murders, we got that going for us, so that's nice.

I didn't know you were from the area. Yeah, I am nervous to see another Philadelphia meltdown as well, but we have a pretty good team this year..

To Recap the past 15 years:

2004 Eagles lose to Patriots 24-21
2001 Sixers lose series to Lakers 4-1
1997 Flyers lose series to underdog bastard Detroit Red Wings 4-0
1993 Phillies lose series 4-2 to Toronto Blue Jays, F U Joe Carter

I'm gonna pull for the Rays just because I'd like to see the local team win. I'd like to see the Tampa Bay people get a championship out of the Rays before the team is moved.

I'm pulling for the Rays since I can't stand the Phillies and the Rays took out the Sox. I like the Sox, so it'll make them look a little better :D

I say Rays in 7. :nice:

    Reason?

The Phillies played like crap last night, but in my mind they did what they had to do. They won a game on Tampa, that was all I wanted out of these first 2 games. I had a feeling Brett Myers was going to get a loss. He just doesn't perform well on the road and he is streaky. Most of the blame belongs to the lineup though, when you have leadoff baserunners in almost every inning you have to make that count. The lineup lost a game that was within reach last night. Back to Philadelphia on Saturday and i'll be there. Let's go Phillies!

P.S. I want to see all of the sports coverage today of how the Phillies got absolutely screwed on two calls. That BOGUS called strikeout turned appeal turned walk call for Bardelli and Jimmy Rollins being hit by a pitch but not given a base. People yesterday couldn't talk about how the Phillies won, instead about how the Rays should have gotten a Balk call. But I won't see that because everybody and their mother wants to see the Rays win. Its just fuel for the fire.

That didnt cost them the game, them going 1 for 28 with runners in scoring position in the first two games cost them game 2.

+1. Those calls wouldn't have mattered if they would get hits with RISP. Their only hit with RISP was an infield single and didn't even result in a run. IMO they stole the first game, my reason for saying that was the fact that they with 0-for with RISP.

I just don't like any Philly teams. I don't care for Rollins, but I do like Utley and Howard. I do like their manager, Manuel seems like a really good guy. No real reason, it's not anything against the players.. maybe just one of those things like I don't like the Brewers.

Agreed.. they can't afford to hit like that.. the rays have much deeper starting pitching so they can't afford to get into a matchup of starting staffs, they must hit with RISP

I'll be happy to see either team win. I'd prefer to see the Philly's win because I'm a fan of Moyer. It would be nice to see him get a ring before he retires (whatever century that will be :D)

I never said that those calls had anything to do with them losing. I agree 110% that they lost because of the RISP problem. I just want it to be acknowledged that the Phillies were getting bogus calls too. I saw it all over the media yesterday about the balk.

If the Phillies are to win this they are going to have to start hitting RISP in. They are going to have to knock starting pitchers out of games and beat up the Ray's bullpen. If the Phillies are leading they give their opponents 7 innings to take the lead. Once Madson in the 8th and Lidge in the 9th come in it has been very difficult for hitters to make things happen. The series is still young and there is plenty of baseball left. No time for either team to start worrying.

no kidding! i was thinking the same thing!

worst i have heard in a while, that's for sure. she put the long drawn out accent notes on the small words leading up to the ones that should have the drawn out notes.... (i.e. on "of" instead of "brave") how annoying!

Why do they do this? No wonder Philly really doesn't win many championships. 1980 MLB and 1960 NFL I believe.
