What would it take to put a 289 rotating assembly in a late 5.0L FI block? I understand it will require the longer 5.155" rod and corresponding piston; my question is about flywheels, seals, and balancers.
(Edit-OK, looks like the firing order is different: 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 v. 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8)
Option #2-Does anyone sell a destroked crank for the 5.0L FI?
Tech help please. Cynics need not reply.

I beleive you can change the firing order to the new one with a cam swap. Years ago we put a 351w cam in my buddies 289, and had to switch to the 351 firing order, which I thought is the same as the 5.0. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me...

Are you trying to build a high-rpm motor? I'm not sure that the slightly longer stroke of the 302 (4" vs 3.7? I don't remember for sure) really has any drawbacks...
