3.90 or 4.10

this question is for you hard core drag racers out there. Not sure which gears to go with. I had 3.73 in my stock block nitroused 88 5 speed which worked well for shifting at 5400rpm through the traps to mid elevens. With my new 89 I am building I already have a new motor, a 331 stroker with Pro Comp 190cc heads, Comp cams cam, Trick flow Track heat intake etc, 5 speed. Car should make power to 6500rpm ( although may be shifted somewhere around 6000 to 6300rpm, wont know until all together ) and will be using a 150 shot of NOS. Which gear is better suited to that rpm band in the quarter mile? anyone out there have some experience to help the decision?

Thank you, that calculator works great. Looks like if I want to go low 11s or even high 10s eventually, then the 3.90s are the way to go, the 4.10s will be too much gear for a 6300 rpm shift to get the right mph.

3.73 or 3.90 definately with nitrous the juice will always give you an extra 1,000 rpm's of zing

Didn't talk about tire size. If your running 26, 27, or 28in tall tires. That will make a difference too

Good call on the tires, 26 inch M/T drag radials. 275-50-15s. Also, thanks to punisher for the nitrous commment. I am pretty sure I am going with the 3.90s at this point.
