  1. Hi all,

I have a 302 block with a xxx casting code stamped on the top of the block. Does anyone know what that means or is that standard?

    Thanks,
    Mark

  2. pretty sure that means its a factory roller block

  3. roller block. the production code is on the bottom of the block near the back on the bellhousing wing.

  4. Nope I have a none roller with XXX casting out of a '84 F150.

  5. Thanks for the info guys.

  6. i made my comment from my personal experience, the link above makes me think the xxx, yyy... ect is nothing more than a cast code of some sort, not ment for use outside the factory. to identify the production year of your block just look on on of the bellhousing wings as i mentioned also.

  7. Roller block

  8. They were cast intentionally by Ford as a way to amuse themselves while they read about people that try to figure out what the meaningless letters mean. It's kinda like an old Eagles album. Back in the day the guys at the record plant used to write little meaningless messages into the center of Eagles albums.

  9. MEANINGLESS! absurd, it was actually from the devil! just like the old backward masking trick on LP's!
