31 spline 8.8

can anyone tell me if side gears with 31 splines out of a truck or explorer 8.8 will fit into the mustang carrier.

I don't see any reason why not...an 8.8 is an 8.8

Yes, it will fit. Not sure if you planning on getting one from the junk yard, but if you do make sure you find one that is a Posi. Look at the tag on the diff cover and the first part of the second line will tell you what ratio gears it has and if it is a Posi. For example, a Posi unit with 3:73 gears will say "3L73 etc", if it is not a Posi it will say "3 73 etc"

also, if you pop the cover, the ever-present "S" spring is a dead giveaway that it is a trac-lok unit.
