I was telling a friend that I was going to order a 347 today, and he said that they will smoke a little after 10,000 miles. Is this true? My 331 did good to me,but I was thinking why have two 331s. I need this engine to last as a daily driver for about 2 1/2 years or so. I totaled the wifes benz and she took my f-150 so I need that time to save the cash to buy her another car.[ thanks to dave ramsey, I pay cash for everything]. I'm not looking to get a100,000 miles out of it,but maybe ......99,000.:D

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo no no no no no no no

DIE 347 myth just ****IN DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Get a quality kit. Get it built by someone who knows what they are doing. You will be fine. The old kits had design flaws but the new kits no longer have them. Do some searching...you'll see plenty of posts on it.

331 vs. 347...honestly why not get more cubes. But i think in some situations a 331 might perform better in a given "package".

Your friend is passing on info that is true
but
While the info is true

Like Paul Harvey used to say :D

"Now ... for the rest of the story" ;)

His info is based upon facts from many years ago when the 347 kits
were first released

Yes they had issues :notnice:
but
For quite a few years now ... 347 Storker kits have not had oil issues :nice:

Now ... as for a 347 having a life span that is greatly reduced

Many peeps have proven that to be false as well

Honestly ... this is like all things that start off with a bad rep ;)

Even though things have been changed for ... all the good

Its hard to get peeps to keep an open mind :bang:
and
Invest some time on their own and do a little unbiased research :spot:

I would point out :)

Their research should be based upon those who have D O N E that
which they seek to do :Word:

As for me ... I'd not do a 331 and give up the cubes of the 347 ;)

why wont this misconception about 347's just die :nonono:

Because ... when something is believed by the masses

It can be tough for some to admitt they have been :bang:

Just another Lemming

Here is a little analogy that kinda goes to show how long it takes
misinformation to die out :)

I started to get involved on the various Stang boards back in 97

You saw this said over and over

"I do a lot of highway driving so 373's would be too steep for me
and that is the reason I went with 355's"

We all know the fact is .......
the differene is just a tad over 100 rpm more with the 373's

but

The way ... All The Masses ... make it seem to be is ...

You will turn ... WAY ... less highway rpm with the 355's

Aslo ... Back then ... Anybody who went with 410's was flammed profusely
and just about tarred and feathered :rlaugh:

These days you hadly see anybody ask the 355's or 373's Q anymore
and
It is quite common to see them ask ... 373's or 410's

O YEAH ... I almost forgot this gem :D

Remember how everyone used to say ..........

94-95 Cobra PCM's suck :rlaugh:

I'm proud to say I told many peeps many times

That once might have been ... but ... Not any more ;)
