When I first got the car for some reason, and it did it up until 3rd and 4th went out, the car would every so often grind shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It would still go into gear, so I thought it was a shifter fork but I'd say I'm wrong. So, about a week and a half ago I was going up the road and shifted into 3rd, and the car acted like it was in neutral. When I tried to pull it out of 3rd it was stuck, and it took quite a bit of force to get it back out of 3rd. So for about two weeks the same thing happened, I'd say atleast once a day. Yesterday, I was coming home from my girlfriend's house and it suddenly stuck in third gear again, when I went to pull it out I noticed it was a WHOLE lot harder to get out of 3rd. It took both hands and alot more force than what I was use to with the usually gear sticking. When I finally pulled it out I heard it grind, which was normal because it had done it everytime before when I got it free, only this time I went to shift to fourth gear and it had no tension what so ever. Now without pushing the clutch in I can put the shifter in 3rd and 4th gear position and it's like it's in neutral. Can someone please give me any opinions on this matter, because I'm trying my best to find out it could be something other than the transmission. I dont know if this would have anything to do with it, but the car has a B&M Ripper shifter installed. It's a 99 Mustang Cobra.
I lost 3 and 4 also once. Felt like neutral in those slots. I had to drive 85 miles with 1-2-5, was real crazy. Ford did rebuilt my tranny since I was under 36K miles. Took some time to get service to say OK. Anway, not sure the cost. The receipt said syncros, can not recall if forks were replaced and gives no cost statement since is was covered. So I can not help with cost to fix it. I finally did trash it , it froze in REV, this was after I had 36K miles so I just bought a new T45 from D&D performance for $999 (need to add tax and shipping too, I can not recall). I got it in 4 days. T56 Kit was too much money for me. John
