I searched 427 over the entire site and found NOTHING. I find that hard to believe. I'm wanting to build (eventually) a 427 for the stang, but it looks like nobody has. Anyone?
i had a 427 in my car that i recently lost in a shop fire along with a 69 chevelle that also ran low 9's in the 1/4 i bought the mustang from a junk yard for cheap with a carburated 351 in it but no trans. the ass end was smashed. the chevell has had a 427 in it since around 95 after we decided to change from the original 396. over all the 427 is a very reliable motor i sugest a 4 bolt main especially if your going to be looking to put out alot of HP. we put a chromeolly tube front end in the mustang b.c it needed work any way you will have to change motor mountd and probably your k member. i loved my 427 it was making 720 hp to wheels with a 5 speed jerico transmission and a ford 9 rear end. you may want to also look into frame supports especially if your building or buying a motor with alot of torque the stand didnt launfh straight at the track until we put in the ladder bar suspension and frame supports. i also tore up 2 stock rearends with that motor. you might want to look into getting a ford 9 in rear end or a dana 60 they are both excellent depending on your plans for the car daily driving you may be ok with the stock 8.8 and im not sure about the trans. if you would like to know anything else just ask. good luck in your search as wellf your looking to buy one
No Average Fool you can install anything, need to know what 427 block you are working on,how many horses are you looking for, there are frame twisting problems also, need more info, the block can be machined for example it is better to make the block a 4 or 6 bolt main not the 4 staightbolt main stock, you need 2 inner staight bolts and 2 outer angeled at 30 or 45 degrees into block, w still caps.
very true! lol also id you decide to ever bore the 427 alot of ppl say that .100 is not safe b.c they cylinder walls will be to thin... in some cases ehh yea however if you pour the block you will be fine. just some info incase you decide to change your bore for w.e reason or if you score the cylinder walls... our case your safe to go .100 over.
FI... and 700+ hp Keep in mind, Its going to be a while before I get the build (year+) I'm still working on the 302 for now. Although this thread will come in handy in the future. Give me as many tips as your willing to spit out. Thanks.
