429 Fit?

Is it possible to fit a 429 in a 66 coupe without hacking it to hell and back? Would it be possible to do if you removed the shock towers and ran a different suspension set up? Just wondering

If you switched to an Mii style setup and removed the shock towers sure you could put it in. If you are after a certain cool factor it works ok, but most people who seem to ask this question are looking for HP and think the way to do is to put in a big block. You can easily modify a small block 302/351 to produce power levels above what the stock 429 (in any of its flavors) ever put out. If you want to boast about cubes you can stroke a 351 to a 427 displacement and still bolt it into the car without removing the shock towers.

The other thing many people forget that are focusing on the 'size' of the motor in the front is that they need to worry about the rest of the car at the same time. With a bigger (HP) motor you need.....bigger brakes, better suspension, better trans, better rearend, unibody strengthening, etc....performance is and always will be a 'package deal' for any car that someone wants to hop up for power.
