I just bought a 93 Bronco.I did the usual tuneup/fluid change. The auto trans fluid level on dipstick is aprox 1/2 inch above the cross marks. Some guy mentioned that the 4x4 had to be engaged to read an accurate level. Is this true????????? I know this isnt the correct place to ask this However I find that MOST Stangers are well informed on All aspects of like,t.v.'s,trucks,women,sports,ect :flag:

Most auto trans are supposed to have the fluid level checked with the engine and trans warmed up, and while idling, in park. Warm it up, park it level, run the selector through all the gear positions and return it to park, then get out and check the fluid level. It may take several tries to get an accurate reading.

The trans and transfer case do not share any lube, or at least they should not.

My guess is that you have an AOD with a BW 1300 series transfer case. The above advise is from an 82 with a carbed 351 w, C6 and an NP 208F. Should check the same way.
