5.0 ford festiva in the works at my shop. need engine combos

No pics yet, but i just started an engine building, engine swap shop with a few buddies.

My project over the next few years is a weekend freak cruiser, i dont think its ever been done before.

Im using the 5.0 that came out of my 91 stang making it a 331, looking for right around 370-400 rwhp N/A if possible.

Can you guys give me some good combos that will get me near that hp, looking to spend no more than about $3,000 on motor, i am fabricating a tunnel, it'll be very very very light, just two late model mustang seats inside, roll cage, i have a ford 9" to throw in it, 5 speed.

It will be one of the fastest street cars around here thats for sure, and im gonna make it sorta like a sleeper.

IMO, the more cubes better for N/A builds, I'd build a 347,Dart 185 or 205 heads, a BBK Intake(cuz I like it lol) or probably a trickflow R or equivalent), 36-42 lb injectors with 4.30 gears... sucker would FLY!!

Yeah, i think this has been done before. If i remember correctly, there was a company that sold new festivas and escorts with 5.0s in the late 80's, early 90's. I believe the escort was called the shogun? I also seem to remember Jay Leno had one. Anyone else remember this?

They put 3.0 yamaha motors in the rear of a festiva. It was the motor that was in the sho taurus. And I believe Leno has two.

yes it has been done before by my uncle except he used a 1979 ford fiesta. The engine he has in it is a 397 cubic inch stroker and it ran 10.19 at 130 mph in the quarter mile with a c4 trans. IT has stock ported heads and next in line is a set of aluminum edelbrock heads and a bigger stall converter. It launches with the front wheels in the air and on the wheelie bars he came up to the rear bumper one time and that was enough for him.

This last picture was when he only had the 351w in it not the stroker yet.

yea people love the paint job just because its funny. I rode down an airport strip in the passenger side of that car with no seat i was leaning up against the roll cage and we spun all 3 gears because there was no traction compound at the airport and that thing just felt like we were gonna take off.

thats a fiesta not a festiva. But still a real sweet car. :)
yea haha the festiva will be even better. My cousin has a festiva and he won the "best car" award at school. It was hilarious. Yea I'll do some researching for you explodinggopher to help you out with some ideas b/c i saw this guys step by step process on his 351 tiva. Good luck man!

but he's looking for a cheap engine combo... in the 350 hp range na.. he has the block already... im saying go the 331 from summing and the trick flow top end kit.. cant go wrong, would make a niceeee cruiser!!!!!!

Thats what im after, not a drag only car. I was thinking a stroker kit, use the heads that are on it now and port the crap out of them, TFS stage 1 cam definitely and TFS upper and lower. will that get me around 350 rwhp or more?

Info about parts i can use for the swap would be helpful too, like headers? will it fit in there no problems? motor mounts to use? etc. thx.

Reminds me of the 500ci Cadillac that one magazine stuffed into an early 80's Chevette. They had to drape a Kevlar blanket over the tranny and backside of the motor, because it was right next to the guy's elbow, and he had to drive with his knees almost drawn up to his chest. It ran low 12's, IIRC.

I'm all in favor of wacky ideas and going fast, but even with a cage, there is NO way that thing would feel safe enough for me to wanna ride down the strip inside. Then again, I'm kind of a wuss that considers anything running mid-13's to be "scary fast." :D

WE NEED PICS!!!

I've seen similar, i like the idea, but the wheel base is too short and makes for a very unstable car. If you are going to do it, make it low, real low.
