5.0 into a 2.3 engine swap

I wrecked my 1990 5.0 hatch about a week ago. Rear-ended another vehicle doing about 40 mph.

My stang will likely cost far more to repair than it would be to get another. My question is:

If I were to get my hands on a 4cyl fox, what would need to be done to swap the 5.0 from my wrecked one, into the new one? Also, what are the chances my engine is still good and what do I need to look for?

Any advice can help. Thanks

Just take EVERYTHING from the 5.0L car and put it in the 4cyl. Depending on the year of both cars you can keep the 4cyl dash harness, which runs out the firewall to the selenoid. My 4cyl was a 91, and my 5.0L was a 92. I kept all the 4cyl wring from the trunk to the selenoid. The only wiring I changed was the 5.0L harness from the computer to the engine, along with the 5.0L headlight harness. You must change that because the alternator plug is run with those wires and is on the opposite side. I even kept the 4cyl fule pump, because it is the same. It is a pretty straight forward swap.

You can also keep the 4cyl suspension as I did.
