hello i'm in the process of converting my 69 cougar to efi and im done everything else but now starting in the actual fuel line install. i have read tons of write ups but none of them seem to touch base on the venting setup..isthe venting more of a emissions thing or a safety thing? is a vented gas cap somthing i can use or is the fuel vapor canister mandatory for efi setups?..thanks

I am no expert wait for more opinions. My tank is still vented, but the line is just open under tha car instead of being hooked to the charcoal canister. I would THINK the vented cap would serve the same purpose, but I am not sure.

If the tank is not vented it can pressurize.

You can run a vented gas cap, but it's not emmissions legal to vent gasoline vapors into the atmosphere.

The charcoal canister is emmissions legal since it draws the excess vapor and burns it in the engine.
