71-73 Gas Tank Dimensions

Any of you 71 to 73 guys willing to take some rough measurements of the gas tank?

Looking for length, width, height, and approximate location of the filler neck and sending unit holes in the top (if you've got the tank out that is). I know they use straps instead of the earlier model bolt in, but things can be worked around.

I'm starting the research to use one of these tanks for an in-tank fuel pump for us EFI guys.

Any help would be appreciated!

Alright, my internet search failed. I'll try to get measurements for you when I get home today. Drove my vert to work today. I love that stang of mine.

Ok, so slightly deeper, a little shorter, and a little narrower. That at least means it fits between the rails!

So now if the filler pipe is reasonably close to the 67/68 tank we may be in business.

That is and if a later-model pump housing fits in the hole...

Dang, I should have looked at the thread before I crawled under the car. I was off a bit on my rough estimate. I came up with 35 x 25 x 8.

Bullit, it sounds like we are interested in the same thing. You're looking to drop a EFI pump into a 73 gas tank. I remembered reading something about that somewhere, but turned up nothing when I searched for it recently.

I guess there was a thread about it before then. Anybody have a link to it?

It was mentioned in the 66 EFI Tank thread, but no real info other than the pump setup needed to be cutdown.
