86 lx suspension

The '86 front suspension is similar to the '87-up 4-cylinder cars, which includes the brakes, IIRC. The spindles are different from the newer cars, so you can't run the same struts. The upper shock mounts in the rear are also different from the newer cars, so specify that you have an '86 when ordering shocks. Spring selection is the same all around.

Being that the "4-banger" suspension limits your choices, a good thing for you to do is source spindles and brakes from a newer (87-93) V8 car, they will bolt right in. Then you can take advantage of any of the same aftermarket parts for the "aero" cars.

A BETTER thing for you to do would just be to convert to 5 lug using 94-95 spindles (a project I'm getting ready to embark on). Expensive up front, but in the long run you'll have a better selection of wheel and brake parts, and at better prices.
